A Strange Occurrence+ ?" I% }6 @: M; Y" y1 {1 P9 Z- `
* f$ F& c3 t/ ] W8 ?: u! k1 gThis strange event happened when I was in Montreal. When I worked in a liquor store, there was a man who came to the store every night and paid for his alcohol completely in coins. At the beginning, I just felt curious about his dibs. Why did he only have coins?
1 n/ a- B: K, I; ]One day, I took the subway train downtown. A shadow caught my attention. I saw there was a homeless person. He was wearing dirty clothes and ate the leftover food. However, he did not forget to show his poor face to ask for money. He was a smart man because he chose a place that had a huge traffic of people which made it easy for him to get more money by only sitting there. There, almost everyone threw him a coin to show their sympathy. That was the source of his coins. However, he used all of this money for alcohol. He was an alcoholic.
3 I3 o5 E" z9 P% ?/ x. w iWhen I went back to work that night, he came in again as before. Because he was a homeless person, the government gave him a place to live and food. Why didn’t he find a job? Maybe, that was the easiest way to make a “salary”. Should people give him money for drink if they know they will continually have to give him? That makes me feel strange; I think people just sympathize him. However, if nobody gives him the money, is he going to try using his power to gain money? I think maybe we should not give him money, not because we are not kind but because maybe that is why he is lazy.) {4 G% ^# d7 B
Also, I think there are a lot of people who have the same experience as me. If we do not give them money, maybe we can help them to find a new life. |
