The University of Alberta - Department of Chemistry is currently
recruiting for the position of Laboratory Technician Assistant - Job No.

Salary to be paid will be $15.00 per hour for a 40 hour week.

0 K! Z& @  v9 r: K& HDuties include: working closely with graduate students and research
& p# B# Q7 k6 |1 Y8 Qtechnicians, the candidate will work on the synthesis of intermediates
$ }5 L5 `) w* |& zfor use in chemical and biochemical research. Particular duties will
5 p1 m9 G. N* @+ q. E& |include carrying out chemical and/or enzymatic reactions and purifying
& m. Q: ~( U! q$ z6 d* Lcompounds by chromatography.

Qualifications include successful completion of courses in organic
0 k' F, ]* C2 z  @1 R% \Chemistry (Chemistry 263 or equivalent) and ideally biochemistry and
9 S  A% G5 ~2 l3 f& h0 I1 uanalytical chemistry; familiarity with basic biology and chromatographic
" Q- f2 k: `. G2 w8 Z. h- ~$ p0 @* |separations important. Attention to detail and ability to work as part
of a team essential.
4 ~0 q" O9 Z2 i- y3 B& eThis position will provide the candidate with experience in biochemical
and chemical research and would be ideal for students who ultimately
hope to work in these areas.
