TORONTO -- Sun Life Financial Inc. said Monday it is retiring the Clarica brand as part of a revised marketing strategy.* B- L. _) u- m p$ z
Clarica was introduced in 1999 by Mutual life of Canada, and was acquired by Sun Life three years later.
: C: C4 e* S- O- uThere are almost two million Clarica policy- and accountholders in Canada, said Sun Life. Clarica also has a sales force of about 3,500.

& Z2 n R% R3 _The company said the changes will be completed by the first quarter of 2008. Sun Life will incur a $40-million to $50-million charge in the first quarter of 2007.; {( J0 L( Z$ ^# O w8 c: @
