Calgary police have now laid charges against an 18-year-old Calgary woman following the death of a little girl at a crosswalk in the city's northwest.$ a3 L2 W& s% i0 u; x
Police Sgt. Doug McIlwraith said Tuesday that Angela Ta has been charged with passing a motor vehicle stopped for a pedestrian at a crosswalk, failing to yield at a crosswalk, and careless driving.2 W: R, ]) S- G
McIlwraith says the charges could mean a licence suspension, a $2,000 fine or six months in jail., M% [: U8 W* q5 A: T
Six-year-old Jenna Chang and her mother, Ye Qiao, were struck Jan. 18 by a black BMW while using a marked crosswalk at 32 Avenue and 37 Street N.W.
L6 E0 X8 R \, N" xChang died of her injuries. Her mother is recovering in hospital.
