这是一个万金油专业。毕业后可以在任何省的卫生厅，任何医疗机构的人力资源，任何省的WCB，任何医疗法律官司的律师楼，任何公立医院，任何大型医疗实验室，任何警察局的人口调查办公室，任何医疗机构的IT部门工作的。只要考过国家执照，目前的就业率应该是百分百的。

毕业生在Alberta Health Service 做IT 的工作，工资是每小时三十五刀。这个analyst岗位是这个专业的最高工资了。最低工资是29刀每小时的。这个专业都是白班工作，不接触任何患者的。这个专业就是轻松自在，劳动强度不大的工作了。但是这个专业工作的工资比较低的，没有B超，公共健康监督员和注册护士的工资高。

其实就是医院里管病历的，过去只要识字就能干。现在用电脑多就产生了这个专业。

在警察局干这个工作，是因为加拿大的警察局需要登记一个人的死亡原因，一个人是因为糖尿病死亡的，还是心脏病死亡的。所有的死亡原因都有相应的医学名词，警校毕业生是不懂那些死亡疾病的名称的。所以警察局是需要这个专业的毕业生来管理这个巨大人口死亡的数据库的。

省卫生厅是需要这个专业来和一些CMA，CPA的工作人员一起来管理资金的运作。因为那些会计人员不懂那些疾病和手术名称的。政府部门需要他们一起配合来控制医疗资金的使用状况的。所以他们一起合作使用那些医疗财务数据库的。

律师楼的律师不懂那些伤害疾病和手术的医学名词，也是需要这类人来管理那些刑事案件的数据库的。WCB的部门对工人的受伤和赔偿问题进行处理的时候，也是需要这类人来帮助鉴别工伤的伤残等级的。那些车辆保险公司对保户的伤残等级和手术等医疗术语也是不懂的，也是雇佣这类人员进行数据管理的。那些管理医生执照的专业部门也是雇佣这类人来判断医生的行医执照是否过期，然后给出一些项目考核计分，也是这类人员来管理巨大的医生资格数据库的。大型实验室机构和医疗机构的人力资源部门也是雇佣这类人员来管理医务人员的资格证书和业务等级考试和考评的，进行医务人员的资格数据库管理的。

比你提到的这个专业的级别稍微高一些的。这个专业就是医学数据库管理者和分析师。只要和医学相关领域相瓜葛的任何大型部门的数据库存在，就要雇佣这个职业的工作人员。这个职业挣不了太多大钱，就是旱涝保收的稳定职业而已。很适合那些顾家和照顾家的贤妻良母来干的。白人在网上就能学习这个专业的，入学的门坎特别低的，入职门坎也很低的。那些高学历高雅思高托福成绩的人来学习这个专业太可惜了！

这个专业是目前对留学生开放的医学专业的。留学生学习这个专业后，把加拿大的国家执照考下来以后，真的就找到工作了！B超专业，X 光专业，医学检验等热门专业是不对留学生开放的。

Coding a defined list of elements from patient charts, the Coding Specialists will support site and provincial Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) data collection from patient charts and NetCare and assist with data entry into approved online clinical quality measurement tools. This is a one year pilot with the potential to extend beyond the pilot phase. This is a job for Coding Specialists who want to be involved in a clinical team and know that the data they’re extracting will be actively used to improve quality of patient care and help the ERAS team ensure implementation of best clinical practice and ongoing quality improvement.

Each ERAS team has a Surgeon Lead, an Anesthesiologist Lead and a group of multi-disciplinary clinical professionals working together to improve patient care based on established international best practice ERAS guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Graduation from an approved program for Health Information Management Professio- Graduation from an approved program for Health Information Management Professionals is required.
- Applicants must be a member in good standing in the Canadian Health Information Management Association/Canadian College of Health Records Administrations.
- Membership with the Alberta Health Record Association is recommended.
- Recent experience with computerized data collection programs and understanding grouping methodology for diagnosis and interventions.
- Thorough knowledge of current CIHI, ambulatory care, and regional guidelines and requirements for collection of diagnoses, interventions, and specified data elements is required.

3) Position is a zone-wide position with some travel to all sites to extract and enter data.

4) Data Definition Alignment:
- Review up to 200 data fields in various data collection systems and their definitions, ensure consistency of data definitions across provincial ERAS Alberta program, ensure ability to reference and explain differences in data definitions and across data collection systems, be able to review local information system, provincial, national, and international definitions for similar data fields to support Enhanced Recovery After Surgery Implementation and clinical measurement.
- In addition, be able to create tables with comparable data and match data fields from different systems that have the same definitions. Example CIHI data: CMG, MRD, CCI codes.
- Compared to procedure codes in international surgery databases, local operating room and booking software to nationally reported CCI procedure codes.

Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Manager, Data Collection, this position is responsible for administration of the Calgary Zone clinical data management information system – 3M Health Data Management (HDM) – which currently supports 25 sites (urban and rural) for inpatient and ambulatory care data collection.  The individual is a key liaison between Data Collection, Ambulatory Care Data Collection team, Information Technology Services, application vendors and various key stakeholders.

This position is responsible for ensuring internal and external submission requirements and deadlines are achieved.  In addition to ongoing operational requirements, ad hoc project work is also a component of this role.  Operational requirements include maintenance of the 3M HDM system which involves HL7 interface testing of new programs and sites, system table maintenance, field and chapter modifications, report writing, auditing, review of Privacy Impact Assessment, requesting access to systems for new staff, and meetings with various stakeholders.

The employee shall maintain confidentiality of all Calgary Zone information in accordance with the Health Information Act, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act and other privacy legislation in effect and shall comply at all times with the Calgary Zone’s information Privacy and Security policies.

All Management and Out Of Scope positions are being reviewed for possible inclusion in the AUPE General Support Services bargaining unit. If this position is impacted, the incumbent will be notified accordingly.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an approved school for Health Information Management professionals required
- Diploma in Computer Science is an asset (computer programming, HDM Report Writing, Crystal Report Writing)
- Certification by the Canadian College of Health Information Management required
- Active membership in the Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA) required
- Extensive knowledge of 3M HDM, Report Writer & Admission Discharge Transfer (ADT) Systems required
- Formal training and successful completion of the ICD-10-CA /CCI coding classification
- Minimum of 5 years coding experience required with a sound knowledge and demonstrated ability with ICD-10-CA/CCI coding practice, medical terminology and disease processes required
- Extensive knowledge and operational understanding of National and Provincial data collection rules and guidelines for the Discharge Abstract Database (DAD), Alberta Health (AH), Morbidity & Ambulatory Care Abstract Reporting (MACAR)
- Knowledge of HL7 preferred
- Extensive knowledge of Case Mix Groups and Ambulatory Care Classification System methodologies (NACRS)
- Demonstrated understanding of the EHR and integration of the EHR within a regional environment
- Demonstrated high level of proficiency in Windows-based environment required (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Visio and Front Page) and a broad based systems knowledge (networks, servers, hardware, software, personal computers, etc)
- Familiarity with SQL and operating systems an asset
- Two years recent, related experience as a health information professional in a multi-site organization or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Ability to deal effectively with others, demonstrate leadership and maintain cooperative working relationships
- Excellent problem solving, interpersonal skills with the ability to deal effectively with individuals at all levels
- Strong leadership, organizational, time management and administrative skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize workload to ensure established departmental turnaround targets are met
- Demonstrated ability to adapt to change in a positive manner and proven ability to work collaboratively
- Strong initiative and ability to work independently and within various team environments
- Excellent understanding of quality assurance techniques and processes related to continuous quality improvement

Must be willing to travel to urban and rural sites within the Calgary Zone for meetings, training and project work as required

Primary Responsibilities

- Participates in 24/ x 7 on-call rotation and major incident call-outs, as required

- 4+ years of Windows server related experience

- Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining Windows Server 2008/2012
