Anything related to water frozen in basement is a serious issue, it has to have immediate attention.
Few minutes work if just the safety expansion valve leaks ( most probably only the valve) 9 i( L4 p6 n! o4 e: q u# e2 e& j+ F7 {7 M# ~' n) ?
Close the main water inlet valve; ! c6 o( G2 i% J8 Jopen all faucets in the house including showers to drain all water out in the pipe line;3 N2 }/ l; Q, O5 d9 H7 T! c
Close the cold water valve to the water tank if you have one; ! c+ H1 G6 `' \1 u& `; jShut down the hot water tank by closing the temperature switch to off; ! T6 r' I1 R5 ~4 ], AOpen the drain valve at the bottom to drain all the water out; " g1 L+ Q9 t5 I8 {Then remove the expansion valve, go to home or Canadian tire. they all have one. 3 t+ n- Z9 q, p& C R.
