Builders started construction on 468 new single detached homes last month, a 34 per cent increase from August 2013.

The increased demand is due to strong job and population growth, according to Christina Butchart, senior analyst with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.' {! C7 l/ o6 e& H1 v( D$ G
