ATV crash leaves woman dead, man presumed drowned

/ O' J3 x" O7 C3 Y& jAccording to RCMP, a 58-year-old woman tried to drive an ATV down an embankment by the Rivers Reservoir spillway, just before 8:30 p.m. on July 12.

She lost control of the machine and hit a 39-year-old man, who was fishing. The woman, from the town of Rivers, was pronounced dead at the scene." W% |& p% @& y, Y' j- d& o9 e
9 _5 ?# I- g, l) w1 {. BThe man, from Brandon, was knocked into the fast-moving water and disappeared. Rescue efforts failed to locate the man, who is presumed drowned.* [3 A* z4 l3 r) j* x! x# [( D
7 y# z/ U. D; C. Z0 _Search efforts and the investigation into the incident are both ongoing, RCMP said.

; V( q3 R4 x& O! cA Brandon man is presumed drowned after he was knocked into the fast-moving waters of the Rivers Reservoir Spillway on July 12 by a woman on an ATV. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Search efforts are still underway, as well as an RCMP investigation. (Nelly Gonzalez/CBC )

! u9 G+ m# n0 lRivers is located about 30 kilometres northwest of Brandon. It is near the Little Saskatchewan River, which enters the Rivers Reservoir, also known as Lake Wahtopanah.
