8 Y6 d  ]8 q+ E; p) ]8 m4 V6 t5 R. v3 E' @4 A3 s
        1. I couldn't care less. & X8 t$ k6 }) A- D
) i. U$ I' i# A0 o* S
I don''t care at all. 或 I don''t give a hoot. 例如: - w$ q8 J' Q! U. |

What do you think of the budget-cut?(你对预算削减有何看法?) " S0 L) J9 W+ _; k

" e; q+ |& f7 u" L9 ]; n  你回答: I couldn't care less.(我毫不在乎)
( `  i$ d1 E, m
8 T0 z% J! I& l' ~9 t# n4 ^  d4 C  How do you like Mr. Lee's political point of view?(你喜欢李先生的政见吗?)
% ^; w5 G, ]! u7 J6 }$ q
& K& c$ B1 F5 q' e  I couldn't care less.(我才不在乎呢!)
- y! f0 S) W2 |8 o5 F; U) b  v, t6 i" e8 h
2 F/ X6 _; X/ C- ~; [  l" C& x, a1 C4 A9 M# @5 M6 L: D' q7 L5 K4 [
  I couldn't care less about the promotion or pay raise.(我不在乎升级或加薪)
3 v# \. i( d$ h3 V
0 ]- d! E) E1 L) C! Yes, you do(care).
/ y% D- X/ A3 \1 u- H
9 E& B) U6 ~0 D2 t  至于 I couldn't care more. 就是“我很在乎”(I care a lot.)或 I care deeply. 同理:
& A! t: o  y( x4 M; ]( E, C2 J. D6 U. X& v; i% \
  I couldn't agree more.=I totally agree.(我完全同意)
2 K9 E' Y5 S; f, d0 j6 T  K8 r( s0 z
  I couldn't please you more.=I did my best to please you.(我尽量使你高兴)
( }8 F  [* e0 z/ W9 R9 y3 v& K4 g6 R& y, i
  I couldn't be more right.=I am totally right.
' q+ v! P% a- Q9 r6 P5 ]' Z. A+ X( E- F/ G
?8 ~$ s( k! Y; X4 m  R8 ?! ?

) t) t! P+ \* a! J  I couldn't be more wrong. 9 M) f7 {  f4 v% h- L4 v) q/ N

+ i4 F2 B' S0 B( E# ^1 R!
6 m) b0 r9 R9 q2 E/ y
  @5 p! r. e5 X: g! D  不过,严格来说,I could care less. = I care to some degree.(care 的程度可能减少) $ k. m2 U/ G, w0 }

9 H) e* O( O6 d  |+ |, k1 l  I could care more.=I care some.(care的程度也许增加)(主词可用任何人称代名词:he, she, you, we, they 等。但只用 could,不用 can。)
( @6 ~# U6 e2 C8 a7 P/ |, ~
! F8 T; X7 f3 l0 C7 P$ w! A) D  2. No bones about it. 9 B/ f: t. R; S* N# t

) ~" }9 z$ P  x: x  意思是:真实的,诚恳的(truly, sincerely or exactly),也就是 to make no bones about it.(bone 要加 s, it 是指 something)例如:
7 {6 g1 ]6 R5 O  U) L1 p
3 J) Y4 ]3 X( b" n% A  His wife is beautiful;no bones about it.(他的太太真是很漂亮) , H6 F0 u  p7 G' N+ _; @& {
3 F0 U$ \( L9 q& ^3 q8 v/ y8 T
  Mr. A made no bones about it when he talked about abortion issue.(当 A 先生谈到堕胎问题时,他是诚恳的。)
9 s6 d) M9 f9 j' s' {
' f4 L4 h* _, l3 |% W  When I spoke on the topic,he said, "No bones about it."(也就是他同意我的看法) $ z7 _/ v6 C0 n0 K1 ^

  }2 C* z( b' C- z8 B, ~  No bones about it;the weather is very chilly today.(今天是真的太冷了)
. o8 u9 `3 Z% P6 |) n2 f
$ ?# K$ k+ @( V6 K. k- A# u0 z  3. take it on me!
$ \& d: ^, X) D# p+ g
% A- Q' o4 f0 p/ L0 W) ~  意思是:“这是我的,请用吧!”“这是免费的”(help yourself to it; it is free),这多半是指吃的东西或一些不贵重的东西。例如:
" Z7 g/ _2 ~: I! Q" C: |; z% }
2 @' L" c4 u$ C+ l/ B! M! }  Here are some candies from England; take one on me. (这是来自英国的糖果,尝一个吧!) (one = candy)
5 z4 R2 M! _  [; o
) a/ K1 J! M3 m1 T' x  The restaurant owner said to me, "Take the dessert on me." (餐馆老板对我说:“尝尝我的甜点吧!”) 5 j5 ^' K  d8 k

, ]3 O" o0 ]  \  {  Please take these pencils on me.(取用一些我的铅笔吧!) (也许铅笔上刻有名字,做为宣传之用而免费。)
1 @; ~9 g% h' O1 ?; m# t8 _3 U( O$ r' h( J( i- E$ O4 ~5 K
  可见 take 后面的 it,是指 something,而 on 的后面通常不指别人,所以多半也只用在第一人称单数 me。
* e( x$ V; a* w! @+ ]2 _. O  S" N. [( ]: ~% i3 r+ Y& F
  (假如夫妇在一起,也可以说:Take it on us.)
( l$ V$ l  }( Q& ^3 X$ U% x1 O0 _# g% H3 q8 e
  4. I am from Missouri.
/ S4 f/ v5 t( J$ I
* l7 v; |: u& Z+ x- {0 O  这句话有时后面要加一句:“I need to be shown.”或“You have got to show me.”,意思是 Missouri 州的人很固执 (stubborn),不太信任别人,一定要人家证明一下(prove it to me),所以密苏里州也被称为“The Show Me State”。
4 j0 Q( D1 T& n2 d! F9 q! ^: T

& `/ M0 ]: y) s" K  He is not easily convinced because he is from Missouri. (他是来自密苏里州,所以不容易说服他。) ; @- c# W5 t6 Y! ]& C
. P3 ^% M- e, K7 O; H2 B
  Don''t try to fool me; I am from Missouri.(You have got to show me.)
3 f4 t4 v+ R; f' I. q' c; S  {! a
. J6 {) M9 q/ N" p; k  We are all from Missouri; we need to be shown.
$ A; t5 u+ B$ W2 Q& u$ i! Y9 ^! L) q2 z
  As Mr. Smith is a tough guy; he must be from Missouri. (Smith
