Responsibilities and Tasks( y" m2 i/ n: `/ B

- Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment ; z; L% B6 R+ X' \% F
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to determine layout requirements* Y. T4 y# y% ^, E/ ~5 \8 m
- Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines
* C" |! p' J- @$ [! C% u8 H. j+ v) p- Select type and size of pipe required
% X6 W' j% O5 N' t4 C+ V6 {- Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools
" V- N- w0 v4 m$ k$ ^- Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system
/ O0 P/ R2 }! \' L: A+ j, s- Install supports, valves, piping and control systems4 v3 l' |* O) {/ Z l
- Test system for leaks using testing equipment. i; U) y/ [$ }7 X
- Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system0 ` c1 W3 s. P
- Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system

- Other tasks related to pipefitting as may be required during the course of business. O H8 W5 i* y0 j5 T- U' [( Z# J6 w$ B

- W% L, c) j5 g" @% z/ J+ u- Completion of secondary school
, M: [, F, f, R z- Completion of formal Apprenticeship Program of four- to five-years or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in pipefitting system installation ! b1 }% i! X0 O T
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals- x" j+ @2 _* Q: [# S
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence& C3 X3 B$ p" X/ S6 q- O/ x/ t
- Pipefitter trade certification is considered an asset
) [* B" c+ E3 W' c4 j8 B- Safety tickets are considered an asset
