Responsibilities and Tasks/ {; E, B2 w: U; x

- Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment
; L- f6 T* ]; ]6 m; R- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to determine layout requirements
7 E' `. v9 B9 Q. Y) L, O- Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines
: S# ?' l& |1 p8 U0 B; j- Select type and size of pipe required
; u$ ]- f( \. p# P4 }. b- Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools, T" Q6 H& N8 U) v7 ^# m+ u) w( E8 v
- Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system
1 k) S" T; V9 l. C: e4 F- Install supports, valves, piping and control systems9 j/ q( d5 T5 N0 L
- Test system for leaks using testing equipment& K# Y- L: J% r P- S3 S
- Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system

- Actively participate in the Iyinisiw safety program/ Y3 D4 z) r! D, u6 p- f( i6 `
- Other tasks related to pipefitting as may be required during the course of business$ p% w5 G" I1 }, s! @

- Completion of secondary school9 }- K) p _4 D0 J8 S) s$ T: c! |
- Completion of formal Apprenticeship Program of four- to five-years or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in pipefitting system installation
& J, ]7 a+ M) F- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals1 O* Q. u1 R. F) `* O9 k& \
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence1 J6 O! V3 D( s7 B* O
- Pipefitter trade certification is considered an asset, m' t3 a5 o% |9 i- m
- Safety tickets are considered an asset, L8 c" p' V/ A8 E) S: A, h& Z
- Valid drivers’ license is an asset
