2 m$ L( m! o$ @2 `/ }0 nResponsibilities and Tasks
C0 b8 x9 a: G* Y1 w1 ]7 d7 T$ }7 _7 h O5 T3 u
- Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment
; y" P! c$ L5 E& S% G5 Y2 O: v4 k- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to determine layout requirements1 _+ K! i2 l& v' S
- Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines3 q5 }, s% k$ k
- Select type and size of pipe required3 t) G0 o- M$ X
- Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools
W* l8 O# ? U. i. ^ k/ j4 o- Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system7 t0 _: C1 p K/ Y5 r
- Install supports, valves, piping and control systems
! G2 s# ~5 e, R- Test system for leaks using testing equipment& A7 V2 ]! u5 u
- Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system8 x8 b5 V1 A2 H
- Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system

Required Qualifications4 m8 N5 h2 _# v# ?3 n: _- W) g
& H' ]) \! n5 i, m9 N9 V
- Completion of secondary school0 P+ ] j$ {& |" R* q. F. |
- Completion of formal Apprenticeship Program of four- to five-years or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in pipefitting system installation 2 X" s' z* s2 q0 ?9 J4 h
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

- Pipefitter trade certification is considered an asset
! B7 j% \) T5 K- Safety tickets are considered an asset
