Responsibilities and Tasks
! p+ c' ?6 b. k& ~- e: E7 l
1 C& h9 h( [# ^- Connect piping systems to water mains, supply tanks, pumps, compressors and control equipment 6 j4 ~$ o' ]/ P0 u
- Read and interpret drawings, blueprints and specifications furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form to determine layout requirements
' u. ~/ n4 q3 t0 b/ F- Cut openings for pipe in walls, floors and ceilings using hand or power tools or machines. A1 W- d0 @5 i. E$ Y
- Select type and size of pipe required
" M" g% q% }5 }- v+ |" n! ~! k6 Y( i- Measure, cut, thread and bend pipe to required shape using hand and power tools
" R1 K F: t3 f) k- b8 ~- Weld, braze, cement, solder and thread joints to join pipes and fabricate sections of piping system% B9 H, c w9 u7 b
- Install supports, valves, piping and control systems
9 O9 L, W9 A1 n) E$ [0 C4 Q- Test system for leaks using testing equipment
' l/ M6 |3 D1 R, h$ H5 M% w- Clean and maintain pipe units and fittings and flush system
& P7 w) p/ Q6 V9 l- Remove and replace worn components and reactivate system4 b2 P/ s+ H- X
- Actively participate in the Iyinisiw safety program
- f! l1 r( ?7 `# q' q5 Y$ }- Other tasks related to pipefitting as may be required during the course of business- M" K( h9 @5 G! f

; g/ z# M% t' [ L% Z. ARequired Qualifications C2 Y; h p7 P n* K( p3 h* O& d Z, `

- Completion of secondary school
# r7 N* i5 v7 C- ~' S# T9 |- Completion of formal Apprenticeship Program of four- to five-years or a combination of over five years of work experience in the trade and some high school, college or industry courses in pipefitting system installation
. a+ z7 F" B; Y+ N' s8 ^- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

- Safety tickets are considered an asset
