The opthalmologist likely felt confident about his/her diagnosis based on the symptoms without the need for culture test. It's hard to say.* x$ s( a! j( t; _/ W6 p- D
In your case because it's getting worse, the best bet would be to go to ER again and specifically ask for a different referral for a different ophalmologist. . w9 X7 z# U% m* h3 T6 u. WGood luck!
