Edmonton police have arrested and charged a 26-year-old man with a weapon offence, following several recent gun complaints in the southwest community of Riverbend.

8 m( w0 q6 c$ A' ?( r; s1 D" aA male wearing a balaclava and carrying a handgun was spotted by a pedestrian walking in the area of Falconer Road and Riverbend Road at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

, _2 Z' \+ @- |3 _: rPolice arrested the man later in the afternoon at the Terwillegar Recreation Centre, after receiving a tip from a resident. g2 }0 G$ z% s! h ~' b
: B- Z9 a7 x1 o' L& k1 d5 {A search of the man's home turned up a BB pistol and balaclava matching the description given by witnesses. The man is charged with possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes.+ n3 F7 l+ N: X# Q- ?% E% K$ p

A man wearing a balaclava and holding a handgun was seen in the area on two previous occasions — the first at 4 p.m. last Friday near the Snow Valley ski hill parking lot and on Saturday on the Terwillegar Drive footbridge.
