Edmonton police have arrested and charged a 26-year-old man with a weapon offence, following several recent gun complaints in the southwest community of Riverbend.

A male wearing a balaclava and carrying a handgun was spotted by a pedestrian walking in the area of Falconer Road and Riverbend Road at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday.

: g/ l1 M) s2 }: M) w1 m ^$ SPolice arrested the man later in the afternoon at the Terwillegar Recreation Centre, after receiving a tip from a resident.

+ V- \, R9 a y/ a! dA search of the man's home turned up a BB pistol and balaclava matching the description given by witnesses. The man is charged with possession of a weapon for dangerous purposes.: }' ^7 G n5 m* B+ a9 U1 j3 s
; V7 p9 V/ ^, N0 H7 h8 XA man wearing a balaclava and holding a handgun was seen in the area on two previous occasions — the first at 4 p.m. last Friday near the Snow Valley ski hill parking lot and on Saturday on the Terwillegar Drive footbridge.
