Speed and power, without compromise. That’s how I’d sum up my impression

5 B6 J, f8 R7 \% rnow inside a phenomenal, incredibly responsive Nikon machine. At 36.3. q, _% P- g% c6 @
megapixels, the D800 produces unprecedented image quality and resolution
+ K& @% F$ C T/ a' o" |( rwithin a body that boasts revolutionary technological advances. The 3D color) H# `+ d" L3 M
matrix metering III, wide dynamic range and the improved AF performance$ w: D2 x0 q% b( i5 B% o5 } l
in low light are just a few features that are glaring improvements. The D800
7 F' y }+ j5 o$ k9 Z7 [( c9 Eallows me to concentrate on the light, the composition and my subject$ [6 j2 e4 h. |' f+ S ~
without having to think about much else. In years past, wedding photography5 x! R3 J; R& S; N7 f0 L! ~- n
was traditionally captured with medium-format equipment for maximum: S9 ^9 V3 `, @5 x j- V3 q
image quality. When the 35mm format was adopted within the genre, it was

convenience. Now, my wedding portraiture will have a depth it’s never shown$ U$ N* @8 R# j! e$ _/ ]
before, and my style of shooting will be enhanced rather than compromised,

/ g; X# X! S& |( L C0 f6 JWhen I’m shooting beauty and jewelry in the studio or fashion on location,' p: \8 l6 t& `1 c
36.3 megapixels changes the industry standard: in image quality, dynamic1 V" C& y, `1 X* O( G
range, color rendering and the final print. The detail from the D800 produces
. q0 s; G$ \3 X: E7 i! Gthe look of a medium-format camera, but gives me the feel and response of a/ O, ~; V7 c6 n3 b* \; }. x+ B$ ?

Autofocus quickly tracks models in motion. Nikon’s 91K-pixel RGB sensor0 ?# o" V. I6 ]) d7 K* k
has noticeable improvements in metering accuracy, while the larger LCD is P" x, S) R* V- V; ^1 @) [
easier to read. The camera body feels solid and ergonomically simple, while7 X& J' \0 c, I6 m: V) ]3 [/ b6 |
also feeling lighter and smaller than previous high-resolution Nikons. New
8 c5 Z6 Z6 J# W9 W" d1 `cameras always inspire me to test and explore, and all the useful features# R9 l2 @9 C: M& G
in such a compact package will open huge creative possibilities for my highquality
$ J1 d" C5 u( @* H; oprints and video.* P# h' x( r' T0 H
To me, cameras are more like paintbrushes than technology. The goal is$ c% V$ {% {$ X; |
not megapixels or technique but the image, and while camera models! W& _* ?/ B9 l
are important, they are not the be-all or end-all. But after a lifetime using
$ y) |* }/ g7 V2 E% r, `4 _countless cameras, I have found a new best friend. It was not love at first
6 g+ l( `/ \. d `: Asight. The sharpness and detail were initially intimidating, exposing my flaws- {3 \* o5 W' g+ u
like never before. Subtle camera movements showed and differences of
& S. ?/ Z: x- ~6 I- [ U: P' nacuity between aperture choices on various lenses were apparent. But now I- |" q r& |* p
am enthralled with this technology. Why? Because the images almost feel as
+ _2 z* e$ N( j, Q; w1 c/ Pthough they were made with a 4x5 view camera! Special features like timelapse
5 O- p/ b8 a( G$ j+ Bphotography and the improved HD video quality and flexibility also add
9 Y1 Y2 s3 R8 Gtremendously to the camera’s personality. After spending a month with the
2 \% `5 m8 k& j/ F K' OD800, I’ll never be the same again. Perhaps the best compliment I can express

As a modern architectural photographer I am always looking for a lightweight,
3 w# k: z L- F# D) M& h* xcompact and reliable camera system fulfilling the requirements of my personal9 b$ J2 A0 X$ u! ]! e2 X- U8 b
artistic and client expectations. The Nikon D800 will set new standards for

and easy focusing in dim lighting, which simplifies my workflow. Superior

4 l! h- L4 Q- p) w) Z. y: o6 Barchitectural photography. From my hands-on experience I found that they

8 p9 a/ V) P2 f6 O) U0 ]8 uclean, clear and sharp files. This camera gives me the photographic flexibility, B, w& k$ ^% H3 R, l
to work at unusual shooting locations and capture images in an exceptional3 A" p2 O' D. ~8 T! m% ?6 q
range of light. It definitely takes my photographic versatility and image quality
