5 U/ U& Z" V, h9 XYOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
' d$ u: |( r5 P9 K+ v  w8 aAdvocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
: p, h' q3 N  O+ Wnine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
peacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
* w, I4 C. h2 }% V$ l7 Y/ qThe YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded

project that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
employability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
# `$ v2 T6 t# m3 q7 J5 Z$ N5 OThe goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
1 G) c  s8 S! m  rthe skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
participants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
personal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
Additionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
and leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
! U$ t& L6 S; D+ h% E7 h% Afollow-up once the program is completed.

8 e1 ~. _( S- [8 x- Y0 rVerto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
YOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
