! A$ ^0 _3 N% GYOUCAN is an acronym that stands for Youth Organizing to Understand Conflict and
' h4 T7 x& j, a+ q0 u( j1 g" n/ `, gAdvocate Non-Violence. YOUCAN has served youth in the Edmonton area for the past
nine years and our mission is to equip youth to engage and inspire others to
* n( V7 y: x3 _& C& dpeacefully resolve conflicts and develop healthy relationships in their communities.
The YOUCAN VERTO Project is a Government of Canada and Government of Albertafunded
% E5 ]) F7 W$ |" P
project that will bring at-risk youth together into a unique 15 -week groupbased
employability skills program entitled “The VERTO Project”.
The goal of the VERTO Program is to assist participants in obtaining and maintaining
1 k1 \9 P$ J/ F) ~5 X  b; _5 j- sthe skills necessary to bring success into their lives. Verto program will expose
4 U7 J$ B, b& x6 t; wparticipants to a wide range of components focusing on: employment development,
personal wellness, technology learning, conflict resolution, and exposure courses.
Additionally, we will incorporate topics around health and wellness, volunteerism,
- o1 C5 d6 o/ k" e/ gand leadership courses. Verto youth will be provided with a six-month employment
/ j2 y1 X$ t7 J% ^( p$ ^" g, |follow-up once the program is completed.

Verto project will run from 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday at the
: v% {4 A, G7 F. o0 _- n* t  rYOUCAN office, located at 11124-130 St. (Westmount Jr. High School) in Edmonton, Alberta.
