T.A.N.G. Youth Program is an educational and activity-based program aiming to equip 5 F5 e& ]* `6 y; `, x- k: N, ?
Asian youth to make healthy and safe choice. Recreational challenges, volunteering ( q& y9 B/ I& I3 [( D0 x
opportunities, leadership training, as well as educational sessions on ) n$ {! Y1 n/ @2 L% V
interpersonal skills, anger management, personal development,
, L! m# K' h0 Band Canadian-Asian culture are some of the ways in which this goal is achieved.

What will take place in the sessions?' k) W% n* X/ U# F# h: g& f' S
Each session presents concepts through interactive activities that encourage active discussion and participation.$ H+ y0 ^+ j0 {; k- I7 x& ^. A

 Learn how to access community services and programs

Regular Spring and Fall Group Sessions: runs on alternate Saturday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m.
! \! i' e* R! D6 R5 V- i* |* KSummer Group Sessions: 2 consecutive weeks in July from 9 to 5 p.m. daily8 |& O3 S2 E+ B4 E

Who can participate?9 l' Q2 v$ h+ v4 V# s* I' I$ [
Asian youth aged 11 to 15, who are new immigrants or locally born Asian living in Edmonton or surrounding area.

What is the cost of joining the T.A.N.G. program?
3 i! a4 A A# D8 S* W* fIt is FREE and space is limited to 15 to 20 participants per group./ M* a1 ^4 ^ f) s

Volunteer’s Duties:" V$ I- i) K: q V" T5 k! U
; c; }; r5 u/ ]3 G+ j& D0 M% C
 Distribute promotional flyers to schools, churches, communities and social services agencies $ Z& Z- g& R6 d
 Facilitate and/or coordinate activity-based function such as to host a gym day or sport tournaments or workshop on personal growth development
+ i# ?# J1 ?- `# u) E Facilitate or assist in ice-breakers and/or other activities
/ N! w5 v2 g5 Q) k- u; x6 V3 M Facilitate or assist in small group discussions
6 F8 j. w9 c% B2 ?9 U7 Z3 i Research activities related to the sessions’ topic1 F- n8 [+ z, [ i4 G9 }
 Enforce safety rules during program sessions and fieldtrips

 On-going volunteers (we have volunteers dedicated themselves to the program for almost 4 years)
v+ ?7 }% M# W One time volunteers: minimum commitment is one seasonal session, i.e. 8 – 10 sessions in Spring, Fall or Summer

 Willing to work with youth including youth at risk
