T.A.N.G. Youth Program is an educational and activity-based program aiming to equip

opportunities, leadership training, as well as educational sessions on
9 ~* Y( w% h* m$ _1 X/ n9 tinterpersonal skills, anger management, personal development,
* O6 e6 e8 C! J# H) v* G4 Uand Canadian-Asian culture are some of the ways in which this goal is achieved.5 |4 B5 V. x* o7 o2 ~

7 e: @: V, f( |" ~7 x0 O9 WEach session presents concepts through interactive activities that encourage active discussion and participation.

 Explore personal interests in arts and recreation0 v8 N; u8 l* H- m
 Learn how to access community services and programs

Regular Spring and Fall Group Sessions: runs on alternate Saturday afternoon from 2 to 5 p.m.
) h M# E5 F* u2 B, JSummer Group Sessions: 2 consecutive weeks in July from 9 to 5 p.m. daily
6 B5 V6 J+ r Y, h4 ~7 _ 2 consecutive weeks in August from 9 to 5 p.m. daily
+ C! @# i4 O2 Z m" x6 n9 S% a1 W/ q. |, p6 U9 \ p
Who can participate?
: \6 O/ x/ S( j; pAsian youth aged 11 to 15, who are new immigrants or locally born Asian living in Edmonton or surrounding area.
% A! T" i6 s; w2 q( _ Z3 A4 x- ?0 a1 ]0 v$ F
What is the cost of joining the T.A.N.G. program?; h; }8 T6 b7 h3 O* A) ^7 M+ H4 R
It is FREE and space is limited to 15 to 20 participants per group.$ L L% }4 z- t5 [

Volunteer’s Duties:
" ^/ \5 }/ D( v5 {" h* u2 o* N( n: {
 Distribute promotional flyers to schools, churches, communities and social services agencies
1 C* s3 ~( i2 N* P4 c6 E" W Facilitate and/or coordinate activity-based function such as to host a gym day or sport tournaments or workshop on personal growth development
0 H" | f( h4 K+ q Facilitate or assist in ice-breakers and/or other activities/ n* }& T: d0 Q# P- n+ Y) l
 Facilitate or assist in small group discussions& l+ b$ l1 H l: H, o
 Research activities related to the sessions’ topic
7 P$ G) s) ~7 D3 l+ q Enforce safety rules during program sessions and fieldtrips7 H- a$ r5 H1 R
 Assist in program planning

Volunteer Commitment:

 On-going volunteers (we have volunteers dedicated themselves to the program for almost 4 years)/ `% t/ Z+ T3 y4 J7 a6 A
 One time volunteers: minimum commitment is one seasonal session, i.e. 8 – 10 sessions in Spring, Fall or Summer" T7 Q! b* D& D" S% B; F$ j! K

 Mature, patient, organized, willing to take and follow instruction from Program Coordinator

 Able to work independently with minimum supervision( J7 }8 b; @- x) C e/ U
 Value the building on strengths of children, youth and families
