In 2008, SEDI founded the Canadian Centre for Financial Literacy (CCFL) which is a national network dedicated to supporting financial literacy capacity building and knowledge mobilization. It acts as a national ‘hub’ for financial literacy in Canada.1 w; q+ Q+ n% U5 Q0 E

SEDI is staffed to:
1 D7 d8 R* G3 I, t0 }+ m7 i• conduct socio-economic market and policy research
) f6 O) J$ a* K4 ^• act as a knowledge broker between communities and policy makers, and influence public policies that affect low income earners 4 x5 G6 ^; P/ A6 _3 ^
• develop socio-economic programs and manage their implementation
, \" u K: k! A/ F+ n• partner with other nonprofits across Canada to deliver programs , L$ x0 }5 I8 \9 m# p' Q) e
• provide training and capacity building to frontline nonprofits - b! [. Y% K% a9 E/ I# b4 a
• work strategically with the public and private sectors to develop innovative responses
$ d0 I$ p6 A4 H$ E8 O• to work to reduce economic vulnerability in Canada 4 U( a+ u, _& g
Primary Responsibilities and Activities: 9 J8 I8 R' N0 _4 H3 I9 R& C6 A
• Facilitation of forums and training of trainers sessions (basic financial literacy) with staff at partner community organizations across Canada ( Z1 e3 r5 N1 Z# _5 Z& n9 H# m
• Assistance in the development and design of financial literacy tools (ie- curriculum, videos etc)
^$ {$ U. p, r+ s, c8 v( R• Coordination of activities and communication with delivery sites of the CCFL as required
% j; S5 |; X& @# n• Working with the website and communications teams on CCFL communications activities
/ L, ~. `) B6 W• Working with evaluation and management information systems team
, F' i* n7 U+ ?• Other CCFL duties (reporting, evaluation, communications) as required [& G- B% y0 t; v* s$ o R

• Providing support to implement research and evaluation activities, solve implementation challenges, and fine-tune strategies - c" E9 C& w l
• Organizing and monitoring the collection of all evaluation forms, surveys, and reports from project partners [4 I( K5 Q/ l/ S. R! n% b% y" M
• Working with in-house Management Information System staff to facilitate data input, analysis and reporting
7 _; {* b# v/ t K• Writing and editing of research and evaluation reports, project reports and internal progress reports
3 \% q) o1 w, S• Participating in the development of Internet-based strategies for sharing findings/effective practices and for promoting learning

• Strong communication and public speaking skills; including comfortable with new technology and social media * A$ g5 t( d, Q! C- g
• Able to travel across Canada to conduct training ) |+ T- v( L4 w8 a( u4 k
• Entrepreneurial spirit, can proactively identify prospective opportunities 7 x3 I4 I, S o) t7 M
• Highly motivated self-starter with team orientation; ability to build committed and collaborative teams

• Experience in working with economically vulnerable Canadians and the organizations that serve them 4 n8 x" ? z. Z3 Q/ P3 H$ a
• Experience working directly with community organizations that serve segments of the population such as: youth, seniors, women, aboriginal peoples, newcomers to Canada etc $ Y8 u5 o- k/ Z, u& w! a
• Experience in ‘training of trainers’ activities or education

• Team player, able to deal effectively with multi-sectoral partners 1 w. x! t! |7 e

• Computer skills: Word, ACCESS, Power Point etc.

• Marketing and communication experience an asset
