) Y$ W7 r. M5 a  G9 G& ADiagnosing diesel engine malfunctions and making indicated repairs
) R0 H( F9 q5 J( P8 X. I+ mOperating machinery in a safe and effective manner
7 A/ L5 s$ k4 ~  ~) f( b1 l- CProviding daily locomotive maintenance that includes changing oil or repairing, replacing, cleaning and adjusting parts
Assembling and starting engines
Diagnosing locomotive component malfunctions

Performing other functions as assigned

Good eye-hand coordination
Frequently lifting weights up to 50 pounds
Occasionally lifting weights up to 100 pounds
& Z, J9 }! w1 gPhysical work, sometimes outdoors in extreme weather conditions
Regular exposure to dust, pollen, fumes, noise and vibrations
Working shifts, sometimes away from home
Basic technical knowledge of diesel
Welding skills
- ~7 }! }* n9 Y5 w' i' R7 sUsing measuring devices and understanding visual displays
0 m3 [7 y4 ^" w9 N$ a$ S- y$ `May need current, valid drivers license, CDL, and locomotive engineer certification
# k8 R) K' y& M) F* VVisual acuity and hearing threshold tests are required for this position. Written pre-employment tests to become a Machinist Apprentice are required for this position. Completion of 3-year apprenticeship is required to become a Journeyman Machinist. This position is subject to night, weekend and holiday work hours when needed.
