that we cannot support imposing a UBB business model on wholesale Internet

/ J- O: m: p6 Q, I; x# VCanada’s first comprehensive Digital Economy Strategy, we need to look
+ c4 X0 L' P q8 W6 bcarefully at how issues like UBB affect the big picture. We will be
( K4 O5 z9 a+ Z; r2 S3 ?% k7 U0 Bguided by our long-standing policies of encouraging competition and/ `6 x A( a! e$ o4 }
investment, increasing consumer choice, minimizing regulation and allowing
! N0 R4 B1 R m! i/ y/ qmarket forces to prevail. 3 F' Q% ]( ? {6 z3 @% _; d
! X5 h% \6 H5 c1 B Q( V |/ i& i
The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) has& F- T% c7 g- H0 F5 A
chosen to examine these concerns that the government shares with a large

government will carefully assess the CRTC position to ensure that it is in
8 E7 W* I8 m4 p6 R! p' eline with the best interests of Canadian consumers and encourages
7 O9 x8 K: E$ h# e& `competition among internet service providers. I will be recommending that
5 L6 Z2 h [1 h- O; h0 Kany decision counter to these foundational principles be reversed.9 P1 b, y& L/ j
