that we cannot support imposing a UBB business model on wholesale Internet+ D; F8 `8 o% P* O
service providers.% o2 A+ O. ]1 J/ c
+ z( ~/ z1 `; ?0 `$ j8 s5 x* oOur government recognizes that the Internet and digital technologies are
+ i6 x( z$ ]: p# \1 {an increasingly important part of everyday life—including driving
2 b! w6 P; M* B# xinnovation, commerce and social interaction. As the government develops
/ O! `4 {! u9 L/ @) wCanada’s first comprehensive Digital Economy Strategy, we need to look
) u# b. ^3 T+ z' N6 a/ Ycarefully at how issues like UBB affect the big picture. We will be( E% O! K# e; b4 Z, k9 E& I
guided by our long-standing policies of encouraging competition and( C9 I3 S& y9 q, E
investment, increasing consumer choice, minimizing regulation and allowing
8 L- U8 v9 [- h; B+ y8 d2 hmarket forces to prevail. ' Y- p: J- o( x+ v& |; F2 G
- O( @- O6 {: B/ T- W
The Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (CRTC) has6 _( T6 h0 |4 h; V3 o
chosen to examine these concerns that the government shares with a large
p3 v! R; z) A: h% t+ inumber of Canadians. Details of the CRTC consultation are available at& o4 i! T& }! N3 T- L2 l' K

3 B7 s- {* l. A2 w% ^3 S. Kline with the best interests of Canadian consumers and encourages; q8 X7 U; R9 \& c1 W# c
