( D+ t! h, {$ F3 |% N3 o% Ito lure teenage boys for sexual relationships. West called the molestation
, G2 S( n) T- Q7 l$ c5 B8 D. oallegations "flat lies". However he admitted to having private online
1 _/ B9 y; R; @" p( T( f; O) srelationships in the past year through the Gay.com website (see ([3]).

! i% H0 J5 m) O1 s1 E' R- AWest confirmed the accusations of meeting men over the Internet but denied
the charges that he had sought out minors (see[4]). Using the name "Right-
7 t* b; k& u7 ]BiGuy" he allegedly offered internships to young gay men (some of whom were
2 O5 _5 n: C( T" M5 ^( W& Ijust graduating from high school - none of whom, however, under the age of
* k8 x5 a2 {/ K  s* F18.

preacher. Known as Pastor Ted to the congregations he served, he is the
founder and former pastor of the New Life Church in Colorado Springs,

% g, ^, d; J0 r3 m0 s; I7 f- l; X2 Dleader of the National Association of Evangelicals (NAE) from 2003[1] until

In November 2006, he resigned or was removed from all of his leadership
positions after he admitted soliciting prostitute Mike Jones for homosexual
2 u3 }2 L. _& v% P% Rsex and methamphetamine. Initially Haggard denied even knowing Mike Jones,
but as a media investigation proceeded he acknowledged that some allegations
/ Q6 K- j. ]2 r% [4 v! a9 c, such as his purchase of methamphetamine, were true. He later added "sexual
immorality" to his list of confessions.[2]

After the scandal was publicized, Haggard entered three weeks of intensive
counseling, overseen by four ministers. In February 2007, one of those
8 \8 J* B9 s, oministers, Tim Ralph, said that Haggard "is completely heterosexual."[3]
Ralph later said he meant that therapy "gave Ted the tools to help to
7 t: ~+ P9 J$ ~5 l% p/ rembrace his heterosexual side."[4] As of early 2009, Haggard continues to
receive counseling, and now he says that he is a “heterosexual with issues.

On January 23, 2009, officials from Haggard's former church announced that a
young male church member had come forward in 2006 and that there was an "
overwhelming pool of evidence [of an] inappropriate, consensual sexual

4 u% g3 o' c* }8 x5 Mwasn't a one-time act."[76] Haggard's successor, Brady Boyd, said the church

and this is not about "opening new wounds" it's about a much larger issue.[
