New Program-‘ Tweenie Program’ (Ages 8-12)
Northeast Teen Drop-In Centre

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

 Facilitate delivery of safe and supportive drop-in programming, while supervising youth.
 Coordinate food and recreational programs on and off-site.
; `6 A9 F  @, X Provide positive role-modeling and maintaining a healthy atmosphere for the youth.
 Completing required paperwork.
1 r6 C' g) H4 Q' J( ?/ G Attending scheduled staff meetings and workshops.
 Following and implementing all program policies and procedures.
) _# ]9 @5 f8 G- } Maintaining confidentiality of client and program personnel information.
 Representing the Teen Centre in a professional manner.
5 p6 e6 x8 Q4 w( D Maintaining professional boundaries between clients and staff.
3 `' l: w; H( s8 f3 _6 L0 O Provide additional support to the program as needed under the direction of the Program Manager.
7 Z4 O) ~4 u$ i1 t; m: l5 q Reporting to the Program Manager on a Regular basis.

Qualifications:

 Some post-secondary education needed OR a minimum 6 months related experience.
 Strong interpersonal, communications, teamwork, leadership and organizational skills.
 Non-judgemental and empathetic attitude towards high-risk youth.
 Broad knowledge base on issues affecting high risk youth: latch key, addictions, abuse, Aboriginal and other cultures, poverty, sexuality, etc.
 Knowledge of community resources.
$ U5 P0 s& q6 c Criminal Record Clearance and Child Welfare Information System Clearance.
% n4 E6 m! J: w0 S* C! {" \ Standard First Aid and Suicide Intervention Training.
$ S# F2 `  Y+ l3 G- U& U( g
Position:
3 s, x1 o9 j* n) P' ?3 I6 aThis is a part-time position; 15hrs/week; with a combination of afternoons and one weekend shift per month; at an hourly rate of $12.50;
starting January 2006. There is a 3-month probationary period.
