409. Robert was delighted to see me and equally pleased with my little gift.# W3 j* M* W3 z' U9 C+ u, x' Q( e9 V- K5 _

, E$ p4 v* v  R" P410. I left the bag in the hall and Robert and I went into the living room where we talked for a couple of hours.

) e# T5 T7 T+ h* s( B! E' K% Z411. I had forgotten all about the snails when Robert suddenly said that I must stay to dinner.

9 X5 [# b, g1 O$ J412. Snails would, of course, be the main dish.

413. I did not fancy the idea and I reluctantly followed Robert out of the room.2 ]* j2 K, i7 I" g/ e

414. To our dismay, we saw that there were snails everywhere:

8 ]) {# E9 ~' D! e# C- b5 U416. I have never been able to look at a snail since then.
% {1 U( T  ~  c2 B: r" l        从那以后,我再也不能看一眼蜗牛了。
