Key Responsibilities & Duties:

 Facilitate delivery of safe and supportive drop-in programming, while supervising youth.
+ T& ?' H4 A0 z; v Coordinate food and recreational programs on and off-site.
# T! O- Y! ~' i7 A Provide positive role-modeling and maintaining a healthy atmosphere for the youth.
% |3 Q! J  K# J- x* l* a8 I( H Completing required paperwork.
 Attending scheduled staff meetings and workshops.
( P5 ^; w' ~' {5 X( { Following and implementing all program policies and procedures.
! s5 X7 y8 L( l5 Y) T- J; c7 \ Maintaining confidentiality of client and program personnel information.
' g3 z) @7 E( {# P& W9 v Representing the Teen Centre in a professional manner.
 Maintaining professional boundaries between clients and staff.
% }; k9 `4 e7 I& T0 n6 F Provide additional support to the program as needed under the direction of the Program Manager.
( I  [: K3 _8 P6 l/ _' K Reporting to the Program Manager on a Regular basis.

Qualifications:

0 P* J, @, o' C/ j* D" ~& c0 H Some post-secondary education needed OR a minimum 6 months related experience.
 Strong interpersonal, communications, teamwork, leadership and organizational skills.
. P% Q$ M# B' W0 P- U Non-judgemental and empathetic attitude towards high-risk youth.
) _8 b% N/ R6 W$ o5 x Broad knowledge base on issues affecting high risk youth: latch key, addictions, abuse, Aboriginal and other cultures, poverty, sexuality, etc.
 Knowledge of community resources.
+ R6 T/ ?; C( O7 \& v+ H1 Y Criminal Record Clearance and Child Welfare Information System Clearance.
1 R1 ]- _* A  f$ v( i( F; n Standard First Aid and Suicide Intervention Training.

Position:
& C0 @$ Q, B4 _This is a part-time position; 15hrs/week; with a combination of afternoons and one weekend shift per month; at an hourly rate of $12.50;
starting January 2006. There is a 3-month probationary period.
