You will be responsible for creating & developing an environment that meets the individual social, physical, intellectual and emotional needs of children aged infant to six years.. y& k D# ]+ T

Some duties/responsibilities include: personal commitment to Bissell Centre Mission, Vision, Priorities & Values; ability to implement the “Learning Through Play” philosophy in day-to-day programming; ability to develop monthly program charts; daily & weekly activity charts; ability to take into consideration the children’s individual interests/developmental levels when developing program activities; ability to develop programs that enhance self-esteem & encourage children’s independence, social interaction & creativity; strong listening and verbal communication skills with the children, parents/caregivers and ECD staff.* K. ?. @7 J2 Y# R1 a

PLUS: ability to establish rapport and trust with the children & parents/caregivers; ability to adapt or modify a program to allow children with special needs to participate; knowledge of behavioural & developmental disabilities (for example: ADD, ADHD, FASD); knowledge of possible signs of abuse/neglect; knowledge of community resources pertaining to children’s health & education needs; knowledge of Daycare Licensing Standards, ITERS/ECKERS; ability & desire to speak with caregivers about parenting issues and share information about child development; ability to work well within a team.; W2 p# H( B/ ~2 v
* `( k) H4 k- y+ ^+ R% m* J7 j$ iEducation/Experience: Level 3 Early Childhood Development Diploma from a CAFRA (Child and Family Resource Association) recognized College; familiarity working with children affected by behavioural and/or developmental delays; familiarity and experience with issues of poverty and the urban core. s: C8 K" R4 e- d2 [: n
0 Z6 h* t" z4 Z) CSkills & Abilities: Behave ethically, build relationships, communicate effectively, focus on client needs, foster teamwork, make decisions, have organizational skills, be able to plan/solve problems. It’s physically demanding work. Must be able to lift and carry approximately 30 LBS.
