FUNCTION:
As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

Enterprise Data
• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
" ]6 t% ?( Y: c1 e8 ^3 y• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
" E1 h0 H; d6 C1 O% @# H9 a$ C8 i• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
Bi /Reporting/ETL
4 E* t9 G# I' _• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
7 J( J5 C) P- V6 G/ n# b/ l$ U• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.

* s- R% A4 R, e! s' V& m7 F• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
& A0 I; `$ g0 k+ h+ ?• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
9 ^* c( t; A7 x• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
% @/ b9 [) u0 e$ G% N) P8 N• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
5 o- ?1 o0 E. `& o+ h: h$ a$ J2 }• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
$ H, X/ d& W; r" H. `7 M% t• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
0 b0 |3 U* s' M% k" u- c$ Q• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
3 T0 {9 B  y3 K# L• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
1 ~+ G# N$ O( y4 l• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
5 D+ B0 S3 `9 c& u4 x/ F: ^• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
