FUNCTION:
$ a# b% ?" b) _& p& }As a member of the Business and Data Architecture team, the Data Architect/Business Intelligence Architect is responsible for the overall design and architecture of the company’s enterprise data, business intelligence systems, reporting solutions and ETL processes.

' B0 q. d6 d9 j1 U8 \. w) i8 T3 s: _& dEnterprise Data
• Develop and maintain data models, data architecture, data management standards and conventions, data element naming standards and metadata standards.
• Provide guidance and consultation to individuals and groups to ensure on-going projects are in alignment with the corporate data architecture.
5 q6 ~* S; i# }3 N) P& a• Designing stable and high performance application solutions with complex requirements and demanding specifications.
Bi /Reporting/ETL
# L3 j7 o% Q; E• Participates in defining the BI roadmap for Alberta Blue Cross.
• Participates in designing and developing the architecture for all business intelligence solutions.  
• Contributes to the design of business intelligence application solutions including database design, ETL, report design and analytics integration.
2 `6 a  B6 U9 w5 \! S3 m• Leads BI analysis and design activities.
• Defines processes to move BI services into development, test, and production environments
2 l  [0 Q& a' H• Establishes the BI Meta data strategy.
• Documentation and presentation of business requirements for a variety of audiences including clients, executives, project managers, end users and technical designers and developers.
• Defines the BI standards and guidelines.

4 f" v! B. Z% D. U- N( rSKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
• A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Computer Science or related technical discipline.
  Z' h9 o" a: R/ Y  q( `• 10+ years experience in data management and designing/developing and implementing Business Intelligence solutions.
7 Q/ ~; X2 o* L; I1 q4 M) `• Expert level understanding of relational database concepts, dimensional database concepts and database architecture and design.
• Knowledge and experience in development of operational data stores, data mart and data warehouse architectures.
• Experience in designing data models to support OLTP and BI solutions with (ODS’s, data marts, and data warehouses).
• Knowledge and experience with industry standard ETL and standard reporting tools.
• Exceptional consultation skills are critical, with the ability to convey technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences and contribute within a team environment.
/ V- [0 Q" M9 Y. X• Exemplary interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills are required.
• Exceptional planning, organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills are a must.
: g# H' Z; {+ b# {8 D2 s• Extensive or considerable experience with Oracle products such as Oracle RDBMS 11G and lower, Designer, Oracle Warehouse Builder, BI publisher, Oracle Reports.
# V2 V1 ]) J5 D9 }/ J5 b• Experience with Oracle Portal and Application Server (J2EE and Oracle 10gAS) is preferred.
