2 H+ C* _* U9 jThis is a temporary co-op opportunity for 4-8 months commencing in September 2010. This position is intended for post-secondary students currently enrolled in an Environmental Engineering Co-op program.

This co-op student position is part of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) section of the Edmonton Transit Branch (ETS). ETS operates a variety of public transportation services including buses, Light Rail Transit (LRT) and Disabled Adult Transportation Services (DATS). This branch provides customer focused, safe, reliable and affordable public transportation services that link people, jobs and communities.
LRT is looking for a motivated and confident Environmental Assistant Co-op student, to work with a strong team of Environmental Coordinators at the D.L. MacDonald Transit yards. You will be working around LRT vehicles and work on various projects throughout Edmonton Transit with varying levels of responsibility and difficulty.

* ^# P% W- ~1 j0 tBrainstorm, develop and manage a green chemical replacement program to reduce hazardous chemicals used by Edmonton Transit
$ u1 p$ Y8 d3 E. d( K' wProvide support on programs developed or targeted within "The Way We Green"
Work on Emissions Simulation Software (MOVES 2010) to determine GHG and Air Quality discharges of the ETS Fleet
- E8 [% D7 ]( s& HAssist in preparing a year end summary report
, X0 F1 n& {9 {  W0 a$ oAssist in managing an ISO 14001 Environmental Management System and support the team with the ISO 14001 audit preparations
/ E3 P  X! B1 k, f  R  W6 yAssist in Underground Storage Tank Investigation and monitoring program
Qualifications:
Student must currently be enrolled in an Environmental Engineering Co-op program
. e2 y6 D0 f2 E6 Y2 a" t& GStrong verbal and written communication skills
Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Excel, Word and PowerPoint
Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment
# Q. [, o; a% ]& }/ xAn understanding of chemicals, MSDS (Materials Safety Data Sheet), and how they interact with the environment
: s9 A& c) q7 @Familiarization with ISO systems (preferably ISO 14001)
; q0 Q8 P. p' `4 i! E6 rKnowledge in MOVES2010 modeling software and Intelex software is considered an asset
