Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and 2 O8 ]1 ], }' |! C5 g
execution of the YWCA Strategy ! R7 x% a3 e3 N7 q6 k+ L* u4 A' }# D2 ^

• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of 4 o% E7 s9 R- w* u2 S$ ~' e. ~7 l
the YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by
! S% G% A# a1 U) s+ x. x. Q' h1 Vthe Board of Directors;
, C! }7 n( {" _; y3 L• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
2 {' y( ^2 |+ ^8 s, ?9 Oincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to

objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by $ I1 ]4 H& x8 ]6 j3 j% f% C
the board;
' K% ?# [3 g' z6 v* x1 F: D' u• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget;
# f% p; Q; K6 x) @6 Y( P• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion 2 h* J$ H9 i# I2 W) ]3 P7 U
the development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; ; |% ?. z Q/ n9 l) e
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the # i+ I3 ]9 ~0 K; P+ ?* `
changing needs of the organization and community;
% {0 V0 J) D1 Q& A) A, h• Identifying, qualifying and initiating opportunities to meet the current and growth revenue
+ {: B( i$ L; x& @8 R3 ^1 ~commitments; ; s2 o# X& y8 U1 u
• Overseeing contract negotiation with various stakeholders;
4 G+ v3 |1 d# G2 N" x• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective - Y" X- H! J' Z5 K' L0 k
selection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems;
% s6 s" E1 u. I% X. x. v• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
4 K0 I, f6 s9 D, R• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to
) X- U1 E/ h7 ?* O+ U: seffectively and positively represent the association; : ]5 U; t# e' G& N, J
* C) g; H5 r" U) O$ b• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring & r- l' c! w. K1 m, |. _- n: A# t) U
the implementation of systems to manage these risks; $ n. w" M4 V2 R! q
• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal
t/ W9 `( P5 E9 U5 F+ Kperformance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED
! _5 A; z8 M' x$ ethe forthcoming year; ! e$ o' h/ ]6 M& M9 K2 }6 r/ W; Y; X9 l
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical
! z- \2 H# q- d1 U0 lpractices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of
5 V8 z1 X, s5 D/ l! a% FYWCA Canada; and ' d8 R7 M, z, U
• Acting as an Ex-Officio member of the Board, all Board Committees and Board Task

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations; # L5 r& x9 e6 A- z
• Strong knowledge of government contracts and demonstrated negotiation : |& E! |6 D! G4 K2 @1 o) r" f
abilities;
& l( f- n9 I2 o6 i+ V• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations,
