Responsibilities

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the ED is responsible for development, evolution and

Specific responsibilities include: 7 U4 e, }1 m+ n4 n* _7 s
# j3 a* V2 \4 f• Providing leadership, general supervision, management and control of the operations of
5 V# Q8 `" l6 K# a4 ], q8 e( U, P; sthe YWCA on a day-to-day basis in accordance with the plans and policies approved by , Q9 E# y! o& b% V0 t
the Board of Directors; 9 d( [' f7 o: \0 f3 }" Z
• Reporting to the board on a timely basis all relevant information regarding operations
. p" n# l# [& hincluding financial, policy and personnel issues and provides information necessary to + ` e& [' n$ D3 T
enable the Board to exercise their responsibilities; : y4 O! _" x o, M3 E) k0 w6 e
• Contributing to the development and achievement of the 1 -3 year operational plan and 7 f5 x& k! n* {/ n0 Z
objectives ensuring that the plan is consistent with the strategic directions established by & b+ w+ s) v/ Z c) [9 U
the board; ! F! p! n: {: b
• Developing and executing the annual operational and capital budget; 4 ~' U, x9 t$ [/ Q
• Nurturing relationships with key stakeholders and community organizations to champion
2 W: D! N) Z" Rthe development, implementation and successful execution of YWCA service offerings; # Y: B( z1 G" m! w# ^ u& T/ J- V
• Reviewing existing policies and programs to recommend new or revise to meet the # U' F6 N2 D) r. Z; |9 ?- L: j
changing needs of the organization and community;

commitments;

w& v3 n) q) o+ U' k& H• Fostering an environment of fair treatment of employees and volunteers through effective
' N5 }/ f# D/ _" X( G+ wselection, development, motivation, retention and appraisal systems; % E' |, F6 W* r$ k J
• Encouraging the development of high-performance team members motivated to succeed;
$ }/ @* s7 c: G+ S' K, L& V! u7 m! w• Enhancing the public imagine and working relationship within our community to + S8 E( ?6 W. P6 R( o/ P7 O
effectively and positively represent the association; % k Z: \' H# C' C E) ?

• Identifying the YWCA’s principle risks, reviewing those risks with the Board, and ensuring $ Q, s' q; W; l5 f; q
the implementation of systems to manage these risks;
* G+ ~2 j% p$ T& A- X4 A" o& U" F9 B• Establishing, in conjunction with the Board Chair and Board, an annual list of personal 1 ]7 j0 m& v7 M. I6 L; q) t3 a0 T& P
performance objectives (within the context of the strategic plan) to be achieved by the ED ' }/ n; R/ S! [6 f
the forthcoming year; 7 I( a+ Q; d3 Y! w" B& ^
• Conducting affairs of the YWCA in accordance with the commonly accepted ethical 8 Q0 z: P& R* l% p
practices, consistent with the YWCA Vision, Mission and Values and the policies of 6 ]8 w% W7 R) M
YWCA Canada; and

• Post secondary degree or equivalent experience.

• Minimum of 10 years experience managing multi-service non-profit organizations;

• Exceptional interpersonal skills including knowledge of Public Relations, " D. G$ M. }* k

and financial statements; and
