3 }# m5 F- U/ i4 l4 xIn collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions. # L' b2 Y' r+ ]0 |$ L5 k
Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
7 F; `/ V% u A+ cAligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
" [2 T" w- m8 W) {/ L+ eOversees the financial and human resource management of the service. 6 J C9 k4 ^+ D. f0 f; o
Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
% x. `# e# G- t9 f9 [4 wMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. # G, {7 q2 T" O9 F; a9 {. }
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
; ^* s0 o" |4 e& lEnsures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
% h+ _3 L1 J" _5 m2 KDiscusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.
; Z2 z+ Q+ \) C8 v, u/ J0 P6 E7 q6 mAssumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
; K* i8 e2 ?1 ?* D: J% }( f! [Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.
$ d- {! l. q, [! c. Q4 C+ cEnsures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.
' } E( b- _! @$ RQualifications 1 Y" l" ^' q& O$ y- I: c
A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
9 a, O, Z/ \: g' [Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care. ) s/ H5 C8 y, f& d/ _
Post RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. : j4 S4 h" Q$ a: w. m
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
( X P3 `, Y6 G. n( YIs computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. ' h2 e, M: e- U; x; n+ u
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
