In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions.
' C: }0 f6 X5 \3 ~0 h0 ?+ ^Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
! e  u1 W5 i$ L) ?Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
& H. m! n4 G, d, tMaintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
$ t  [" P5 d; e+ i, Y  BMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
7 ]# @' q- k/ T7 I8 s1 tExercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
( \+ E: {4 X$ {# S* L( z  JEnsures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner.
/ C* o0 ]7 ?/ K$ F! E  X# L4 w& YDiscusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.
! i. h; A7 m" Y* hAssumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care.
Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.
0 U" ?" |5 Y- d( }4 H1 }Ensures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.
Qualifications
' K' V9 H  I! Q7 h; b0 y6 uA Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province.
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
, w3 h' s7 u8 Y( `7 SPost RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
