Responsibilities % P1 X, ]5 b) O1 ?8 v$ g |) W
In collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions. 7 U6 B m/ p; W7 Q7 E
Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
) Z |2 ]' w2 ~+ }Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
: j; X" z, [- x2 f; COversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
* g& j9 J6 s2 G* ^0 ]8 jMaintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
3 z- G8 [8 x/ a1 iMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
, Q3 R1 g# ~5 ^' j% J" s- BExercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment. 4 M g( ^, O+ f. F
Ensures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. 8 D' C8 z& L) @6 R7 i
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility. . q$ r/ @- Q2 ?; }9 K, R. n
Assumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care. 8 O3 E2 a& p8 B/ i9 D6 A
Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.
% x; _' Q1 e- S1 o; fEnsures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted. ! u$ }( _& [' E7 C" @# p
Qualifications ' J- q' i" u4 R6 N8 N! h# e& T" E$ x
A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. 1 Q: t3 `1 v) Q( B
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
# c1 ^7 M" U- G5 t' UPost RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. 1 j: T c+ Y+ e
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
8 r( q9 b' C2 N2 N" \) ~Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. I; B& [$ X$ g! T
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset. 3 w3 R) n W: Y& A/ ~2 Z# Q
