Responsibilities
& g8 a8 \ f5 o9 N# SIn collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions. ; E) x; c9 x3 K6 J* S
Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services. ! f0 u% Y: ~/ [
Aligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community.
" N5 X( \' s4 o8 S" N( ]3 {Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
( T& P% ^: \# Z* x7 c4 ?0 }Maintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards.
2 G/ C' V' o' d# u' yMaintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility.
% q1 ^/ H+ t6 ^1 h% m9 e5 G5 c6 QExercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
1 G6 B6 ^1 [- H/ B' kEnsures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. & A" m1 O4 s- B5 \
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.

Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.
$ t, J; L' n& B, EEnsures resident satisfaction and continuous quality improvement initiatives are promoted.
# M+ a4 P4 G' q/ [- u0 ~) v& W( v- ?* ?Qualifications 1 e9 V9 q4 d/ N6 B: P3 ^
A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. 2 s$ q6 R& E7 ]( x9 l; C$ X
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
o2 a: Z0 b7 ?9 K) y9 d4 h4 Y% ~5 PPost RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience.
4 F% b% j. `4 p$ VPossession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills.
. d7 R% r6 z) k( f0 X$ d( ?/ VIs computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. # X+ d9 r! M/ V7 C/ f
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset.
