' t! m$ A9 R* D1 E: sIn collaboration with the Director of Care, develops the philosophy of nursing, statement of purpose for nursing services, goals and objectives, policies and procedures and the description of nursing functions. 5 _- j9 H1 _" k
Plans, directs, develops, co-ordinates, implements and evaluates resident care services.
. R/ G0 |5 Y* y7 q4 SAligns resident care services with the defined needs of the internal and external community. - Q5 d- R& _2 D+ e( f9 I9 V
Oversees the financial and human resource management of the service.
" P( A5 o: s6 ^3 M, p3 f; k4 MMaintains the service in accordance with legislative and professional standards. 5 f% Z6 q2 ^2 c) A; Z
Maintains a liaison with hospital, medical staff, community and health care related disciplines and partners to ensure the most effective provision of care delivery in the facility. ! \+ x7 | A- S2 b/ O
Exercises authority over resident care staff such as; supervises, directs, evaluates, hires, fires and promotes for the purpose of ensuring quality care and a safe, effective and efficient work environment.
& D6 Y8 Z# a5 X; A$ l: l2 TEnsures the availability and maintenance of Nursing Department supplies and equipment to meet the departmental needs in a fiscally responsible manner. & k, Q+ Q, q | k- ~' n2 U5 n
Discusses and collaborates with the Director of Care on issues relating to Infection Control and co-ordinates associated monitoring activities within the facility.
# m: p1 \6 e# l$ yAssumes responsibilities of the Director of Care as required in the absence of the Director of Care. . {5 u, x5 S" U* Y9 S0 j
Is knowledgeable of the Resident Bill of Rights/Governing Principles and endeavors to promote it.

A Registered Nurse meeting the requirements to holding a license in the applicable Province. ' I7 H q' ^) p# V
Post RN education in gerontology or 3 years experience in long-term care.
. ~* [ v3 y- Q oPost RN education in management or 3 years relevant managerial experience. % q' \1 B5 d0 W. \6 D) D5 x
Possession of strong motivational, team building and time management skills. 5 X* N0 |7 i$ ]1 w0 y
Is computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel. : y' ]; `* V' V
Proficiency in a second language is considered an asset. 5 j+ ~& J5 H y0 Z
