HChange for Children is looking for a Program and Administrative Assistant who is highly motivated, has excellent ability to work independently, effectively prioritize tasks, be able to manage a flexible work plan and take direction from Program Managers to ensure timely and consistent administrative and program support to our vibrant organization.

CHANGE FOR CHILDREN ASSOCIATION (CFCA) is an Alberta-based, charity with 33 years of experience working for sustainable, community development in Latin America and Africa and providing a comprehensive global education program in Canada. CFCA is lead by a volunteer Board of Directors and a small, flat-structured core staff which includes: International Projects Program Manager, Education/Public Engagement Program Manager and Funds Development Program Manager. CFCA’s projects and programming are funded by private donors, government grants, foundations, fundraising events, and campaigns.9 {& D( @' x4 h3 J& l

• Act as first point of contact for donors, partners, members, other stakeholders, and the general public.+ P' i  C; K4 T8 a+ y9 x

• Complete data entry in various programs.

0 a6 u: n0 [3 a* o3 x' w) n1 i, y7 }• Maintain an organized filing system for office records, meeting minutes, government registrations and donor records; Process annual government and charitable registrations forms.

  a9 ?7 T7 T8 z* `• Order and organize office supplies; Manage and maintain office systems and environment including policy and procedures manual and office operations manual.5 ]  d) l% w6 {& k) l

( G! L# u. H8 G7 w• Maintain organizational calendar of events, meeting coordination and up to date membership lists of committees and groups.

• Support effective internal communication by recording and distributing all meeting minutes.$ Y5 q1 G) x' Q; C9 ~! m# ^

$ N* n( Y' a3 d! j• Manage all CFCA administrative communications such as liaising with financial institutions, service providers etc. related to administrative management.

• Manage mail outs for fund development or education purposes with support of Program Managers.2 I) ^  |. F# r2 f2 Z! m7 X

• Maintain inventory of communication materials.

2 ~- ^" Z( A0 Z" G$ ?• Support the promotion of CFCA events in Alberta through online and print publicity resources.

# o# n, \; z8 \• Support the management of requests for CFCA information and resources at public events.

! x/ F1 `( m9 Y% X• Provide administrative support for public engagement events and mail outs.7 \: n+ N2 E, h' J

8 h9 i+ I4 T5 P7 Z• Weekly out-of-office errands as required (get cheques signed by Board members, drop off grant applications, and pick up office supplies). These errands will require personal transport.

6 n& T) K, w; n# O- O• Provide logistical support for key fundraising events such as silent auctions

( e8 r# i5 ^( m- r* Y% ]7 O" t• In conjunction with the Funds Development Program Manager, maintain donor database and ensure delivery of timely charitable receipts.% E( @' o5 z+ V, c* C. ]! o: M9 k

: N- }& v1 i0 C/ Y% ?# ^# [. I• Coordinate volunteers for some fundraising events such as Casino and annual sales events.4 n$ n* E5 d% j( R

Skills and Qualifications: Education or work experience in office administration and experience with non-profit organizations an asset. Excellent communication and administrative skills; excellent oral and written communication skills; strong administrative and computer skills including proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook or Outlook Express; Willingness to train on other relevant software; Very strong teamwork and time-management skills; commitment to social justice and sustainable community development.

Starting salary is $18/ hour with benefits to be negotiated upon hire. Position will commence on November 01, 2009.
