SPECIAL EVENTS/VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR 1 D. B9 S- P( A' j# P2 {
JOB DESCRIPTION

3 q) A* o8 R) }. V, TUnder the direction of the Program Coordinator and in collaboration with CLSA Special
9 D( D, O2 u6 D* b7 cEvents and Volunteer Committees, this position will be responsible to:
1 `/ a/ Y( l! E8 H! x) D 3 D% n5 ~+ L. ^% W3 n
Duties:  Special Events  
8 V: D/ C! K7 o0 _Plan, implement and evaluate Special Events:
" h# Q. j+ j4 O$ q* o6 i·  Select and develop themes in collaboration with the Committee
! z6 S3 s# a0 q4 g·  Oversee event logistics: book entertainment, catering services and venue; assist
# p0 @$ t5 l2 gwith decorating; ensure tickets and invitations are available; assist with the # \$ G( K4 N8 g
advertising of events; recruit, place and supervise volunteers for events; ensure
* M5 o7 J0 F" h* W1 m8 ~3 Fset-up and clean-up; monitor event budget and complete evaluation of events.   
3 Q$ x6 o( E  p$ F. B( J6 Y3 \% Q·  Attend and manage Special Events  
& T  C" A2 j* q4 v" U! t; B·  Attend and take minutes for Special Events Committee 1 I7 i$ r1 J* `. N) s/ w3 C+ _

5 \) `5 y* @. F" d5 tDuties: Volunteer Coordination 2 \: M- H4 D' Q0 I* ?9 D  \
Assist in developing and implementing a volunteer program:
( J4 ~3 j% V6 d( d' |·  Develop job descriptions for volunteer positions
& ]$ M: e' M2 n9 L( J·  Recruit, interview, screen and place prospective volunteers 3 y. F1 [+ T) w) M( G0 L
·  Provide initial orientation and training for new volunteers
+ L( _; Y$ T1 j, G( L·  Ensure provision of recognition and evaluation of volunteers  * y' H! e& P: q5 \6 O
·  Complete program administration, statistics and records 6 |3 }. X( D- I" z

1 g2 G& }/ }. v2 a' I' UQualifications:
6 T% V( I, @- ?) U3 {4 n" D·  Completion of 12th
( a- ?$ r; o5 w/ a3 Z" T Grade and a minimum of a Diploma in Recreation $ P& u8 R6 {$ D) H/ n
Administration, Volunteer Management or Special Event Planning or equivalent.
& X3 ?. X# u+ w- _·  At least one year of experience in Recreation Administration and some direct 0 c; D, T( S0 r- z1 r
experience in conducting recreational, cultural or other related events
" x4 Y9 _" v. G1 B* N1 E·  Experience working with and managing volunteers
) p2 X7 J4 |" \: \! W0 n5 W1 ~·  Specialized skills and training in working with seniors  
6 I. z2 ~% s2 \  c, r6 x·  Ability to instruct, organize and supervise group activities and special events
2 b" t1 w6 t9 ~! F+ ?·  Current Standard First Aid, CPR & AED training ( Y) W1 h6 w2 F' r/ b; ^
·  Security Clearance

. j7 k+ i. r# IHours:   Flexible – some evening and weekend work
) M$ }$ w; l5 E: `9 R0 n
# O0 ~/ y8 O6 S. ]8 EWages:  $16 - $20/hour depending on qualifications / D4 @; {  u1 X2 D& ~8 j
     3-month probation to start ' |6 n( q+ P3 b1 g4 V, z, w, R
