Duties# Q' ~% d3 e4 f6 d) h: s I& i
; ^8 N" Y; v" l0 b; m4 _# N * Provides technical support and husbandry of the Thermal Ionization Mass Spectrometer (TIMS) Laboratory
! u6 c$ I) I6 ~1 q" }6 X! O * Performs isotopic analyses on a broad spectrum of chemical elements, including Pb, Os, Nd, Sr" m/ c0 _, N7 O
* Completes routine maintenance on the TIMS and auxiliary equipment, such as vacuum pumps
6 s1 W% S. k5 t) u * Performs data compilation, analysis and data reduction calculations# |/ h; U( ?( A2 _9 Y% G
* Trains users on the mass spectrometer and reduction calculations6 `$ f+ \. \& v! {6 o% Z

Qualifications+ S" m0 I. C% F) K( o
0 j" p: z7 l& A1 V- w. ~; v+ L
* Technical diploma in Physical Sciences, preferably Geological Sciences or equivalent; BSc in Geology or Chemistry is preferred
* N% n0 P8 z6 S * Specialized training on thermal ionization mass spectrometers, geochemical analyses, and instrumentation$ ]0 |7 j* O+ t, w n8 ?& }1 p: Y
* Experience in an established research laboratory with demonstrated knowledge of lab safety regulations and procedures including general lab hygiene and specific safety protocols for thermal ionization mass spectrometers
8 h, k* j4 G0 u& k5 C+ J3 Q" } * WHMIS training
7 P" e- T; l$ {$ q V * Computer competency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and programming experience would be an asset, w9 v7 k. j- K5 k0 v& [: d' y3 R, l
