Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

(10 week @ 35 hours a week contract. Must be returning to school)/ M! ?) z' E! m7 a

Activity Planning and Daily Activity
) p, D8 A( q. @0 z; ]$ [• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.' a& r4 a+ s% b* T
• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring. 1 Y5 M$ N: `( o; |% \0 |
• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, + G( w' X6 t8 u# D ~
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.
1 I9 H2 P6 f- Y$ f2 X• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.
0 k+ }& T! ]8 O& ?" c, a' l6 C) Q& G• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.2 A8 E3 j; q. H- B; L
5 ]- I7 R3 }5 o2 V R" |! CThe successful candidate will have:
8 j+ T; T+ k5 b: S5 [/ B& {• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting
) [, X' s* y8 m2 U• Experience with children
. p( o* b/ v( t& O• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth / K8 Z" d2 N4 q2 S6 R
• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.
- b5 {, H7 W0 ]• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.( T7 @. C( h$ S0 ?
• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources
5 Z) w7 [$ G2 C/ w3 ^• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check 8 Y/ m: s: j0 M, o+ h
• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check
