Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff.

2 Multicultural Summer Camp Program Students

Activity Planning and Daily Activity
+ y7 z8 e$ K5 K( p2 n• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.
8 r7 E8 _: m/ K+ }• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring.
5 \+ I5 l0 d7 s; L4 F% \) o6 \. ~• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball,
/ D" s [. w" j1 X• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.8 Z2 K9 r% [: x; Y+ F
• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.' u" F) Z( l* _5 Q" P
• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.0 s" G0 q7 X: |1 Q5 F$ M: a
3 \6 t+ L6 i4 G) d( KThe successful candidate will have:
6 J* l+ G; h d ^• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting
3 R0 x; T7 R* `' o• Experience with children
0 a5 y; S! Z* r# l$ M5 j• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth
/ G0 R7 T, `# {" T$ A2 N• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.
$ ^/ j( R% z8 ?* W: b5 R• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.
% [( C5 l+ o3 n+ X• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources
3 v5 `9 C% M% {5 |- W• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check
