) o) r( _! t' qBig Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff. 0 _8 B& F1 Y* o( [. _

Key Responsibilities Include
+ h1 K8 L0 r) b y- ]4 z) F3 gActivity Planning and Daily Activity6 n8 Z- U* J6 k% Q
• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.* V, G2 H, I( n% @. ~, [5 ?5 O
• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring.
7 V; l4 ~' D8 y% y& p• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball, 6 U' c$ s/ X. l
• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.
( U, N# u, r7 a' d3 j& e• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.5 ^% E( ?( C' `, U
• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.3 X6 `$ j; g- o. W+ `6 w/ ?

The successful candidate will have:1 W k8 w( f9 f5 o9 p
• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting
9 e; {/ l3 X' i2 @: p+ k' @• Experience with children* D+ C2 q: G0 m$ C Q* B
• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth ; x# P" m7 e6 @$ m9 L. A
• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.' L) o1 @& s+ O$ K2 ?
• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented.# B: ]- e- v% H1 u( U
• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources
3 L3 d* D& d6 H: C/ W; \$ ~• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check 0 n4 p- a y& E. L# U
• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check & }7 S7 H! j- q& [9 y. M
