Big Brothers Big Sisters of Edmonton and Area provides mentoring programs to more than 2,800 children, youth and families. Together with the Africa Centre, we are looking for 2 temporary full time summer student staff. % G9 { D$ Z: t* b; i0 Z5 K/ ]2 v

2 Multicultural Summer Camp Program Students

) s* x" A2 U9 |Activity Planning and Daily Activity
7 s& x! _5 R5 e! p• Assist in planning, organizing and relevant activities for children and youth to explore new avenues including leadership & life skills, recreation, and their cultural community that enhance their resilience, relationship building and leadership.
1 z) f9 h# W0 B• Participate in the delivery of all programs in the areas of crafts, sports and tutoring. / H1 S1 J+ X1 Z! h1 I. V. z
• Participate in and lead sporting activities; know and have the ability to apply game rules for basketball, soccer and volleyball,
3 w& {$ R, [2 h* D• Provide proper supervision in all activities to ensure the safety of the program participants.
$ r) E3 s0 v/ B% ^' O8 X, q• Supervise the children and youth at breakfast and lunch time.7 |! s# r4 d/ b; T
• Help to maintain housekeeping standards by ensuring all program facilities are left clean after each activity and each meal.. e) r+ B# U1 i

The successful candidate will have:' P3 w \" a! N4 e! |$ \0 ^! C
• The enthusiasm and ability to work with a variety of ages of youth in a group setting' V/ {5 q+ t8 ~+ n( L4 F v
• Experience with children- h h* \+ O3 F
• Demonstrated knowledge of sporting, activity planning for youth
# C$ B0 K/ i* D" @( M5 B1 O4 M% p• Knowledge the English language and the ability to support math tutoring.$ s/ R* A7 l" d8 n+ S
• Ability to manage time effectively and be results oriented. m6 v: P& q/ {1 X2 q0 g
• Knowledge of children’s activities and community resources) L/ i$ ]1 l( b4 x4 d" C8 R
• A clear CYIM (Child & Youth Information Management) check
& @3 z, {- ]' o3 H7 v: t1 {" A6 i# ]' i4 Q• A clear vulnerable sector Security Clearance check
