FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization 6 Y6 m, ]) F4 j% p3 A8 t& Q
whose mandate is to support the production and exhibition of film, video and media ! X& X6 C7 M8 i
artists from Northern Alberta.

FAVA serves members with diverse backgrounds and levels of experience, ranging from ! ]; H- G: t3 T
emerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
T' f7 k! I$ Tand media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
# o3 a+ n( ~( Z C7 C. kresource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
/ [! m7 m# ]. j! J2 a- cscreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern

Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive ) J3 ]! W/ f$ ]" C# r
Director and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
& G6 R$ x2 O+ i7 hassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department. 4 A* ^9 ]9 f/ d+ T; P) L6 @& M
% E. u7 C. `7 mDuties:
! f3 E/ C% Q+ f/ w X- Assist with research on acquisition grants
. a, A2 o% n+ w9 Q/ c- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
7 w0 l0 G+ y- R9 k- Assist with equipment maintenance $ _ D, X0 t, G: m0 H
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
. b0 L; H! S" w6 J% k2 q& L8 P- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
3 V2 `) R( T4 P7 P) s/ ]- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
+ c0 a3 B2 W" l- Provide vacation relief , L a* O3 W/ O3 s* N

- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-& j9 t1 E8 A N7 B. C1 }; E
secondary training

- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
9 w/ U+ l5 t, W& i6 m0 W- Advance organizational and research skills # k0 G; Z9 ~# Y+ ?8 P
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD
! }1 P3 r4 U& q/ l, F- Strong team player abilities
