FAVA is currently looking for a Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant to join the FAVA team for 12 weeks in the summer of 2009. FAVA is a non-profit, charitable organization

) q, x# l; {" C( p, c* jemerging, mid-range to established artists with an unwavering passion for film, video
and media art. FAVA offers: a variety of workshops for artistic and skill development; is a
7 y1 a9 K, C: p# S& K$ Presource for production equipment and post-production facilities; hosts events and
* U* x6 V" J: q5 F4 e2 e' Escreenings; and fosters and develops a dynamic media arts community in Northern
: M( H0 X. Z/ e; d( q4 bAlberta.

6 @5 m* Y7 k8 Q' X  M  ]Job Description: The Film, Video & Media Arts Assistant will report to the Executive
+ n. f9 q3 b' G# b1 LDirector and work with the Production Coordinator and Maintenance Coordinator by
: s2 d+ e4 \$ P# ?3 \7 tassisting in the day-to-day operations of the Production Department.

Duties:
! W, r. c2 ~( b0 l/ y: u. |- Assist with research on acquisition grants
+ G) l+ @& L5 u& x2 n- `) G6 n- Assist with production and post-production gear and facilities
; u0 E5 }" r/ S+ p- Assist with equipment maintenance
- Assist with production logistics for programming events
) m. F- @- s- ]- Assist with communication with members and interoffice staff
! i# Y$ [" C+ e$ z- Enforce FAVA’s standard of use policies where applicable
0 w6 n- J- N/ `% v- Provide vacation relief

Details:
4 f, F* c. [# I8 I- Funding for this position is partially provided by the Summer Temporary Employment
Program (STEP)
6 s# u! `. A5 d7 i% ]# @8 t- Applicants must be unemployed and attending (or have recently completed) a post-
  v( ?2 X& f$ k; F" y, }. T; ]secondary training
- Wage is $15.00 per hour, 35 hours per week
- Length of position: 12 consecutive weeks

9 n& b( }2 S* d0 CQualifications: The ideal candidate will have:
- A passionate interest in film, video and media arts
- Advance skills in technical aspects of film and video equipment
- Advance organizational and research skills
- Advance skills of current trends in technology i.e. HD

& o& \, j# T( x. f/ v% P0 p- Interest in working for an arts organization that is governed by a Board of Directors
