A twelve-week training program for careers in Child Care.' n6 e( O% }8 c& q$ [8 w0 R" s" a3 R
This program is designed to provide participants with the skills and& I- ^6 w2 P: J( `) K
knowledge to help them succeed in entry-level child care positions.
. A! V g% L, u, F) _The program includes the following elements:
g& H: C2 r* v- U• Orientation Course for Child Care Staff (Level 1). @/ [1 y! L" G
• Standard Child Care First Aid* S4 [, t2 j4 C( \' h! f
• WHMIS; g( H9 Z* s3 c& U' Z9 g; a
• Practical and theoretical modules relevant to child care
$ a8 m! I. d( N6 s• Components to improve communication skills, e% |6 ~4 ~) `0 p
• Modules on Work Place Culture and Work Search/ L/ ]2 R, H5 X! h- u7 {
• Practicum Placements4 O1 R; d+ J, i0 g
Eligibility Criteria k6 }, j9 J5 _& l( s4 |1 j) v
• be a landed immigrant, convention refugee or new citizen0 E: Y, ^' i2 h2 R% W( i) p
of Canada
6 |5 s h, P9 K2 a• have a Social Insurance Number
: t* W5 o! N* D W) o! v! q9 @5 q• provide a completed criminal record check and child welfare check
/ b" Z+ }% h- r7 `• CLBA score of at least 4 or completion of LINC 4 or equivalent# I+ o7 P) z/ S0 P7 _
• demonstrate commitment to participating in a 12 week full-time
& s+ B8 \( R; D T% r/ m( f. E/ lprogram/ k. R4 e1 `2 _' w" a
Participants may be eligible for Grant Funding if they meet
8 r$ M7 c* s q0 a; \the following requirements, in addition to the one listed above:, A9 g6 @0 ^2 M0 ]
• be unemployed or underemployed.: N' `' U) N2 _% b6 E) h
They CANNOT quit their job to take the course
