* Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
% ]* T _# d/ R! b * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group8 ]3 ~7 _6 g! i6 e* a
* Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators- j& W: B* _/ c2 a4 O ^- G
* Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations9 ]' h: G }0 ~* K8 |
* Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director
- n3 v- t( \$ L4 u * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses
6 T3 H4 q* _$ S8 v& O/ t * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth
+ k% h! Y8 V y4 w5 c1 M8 l * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program+ { U8 W* \, T
* Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment
( O# @3 i& W" p8 [ * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports
7 Q; J, _8 x" i: Y m4 y6 h4 ` * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs

9 l" G" r! _+ p3 J% _ * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities

Qualifications" Z/ a, Z# D1 l' D/ P" G

* Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline
& G0 z5 M3 e* }. N8 p$ P" h * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
0 v' Z, f+ `1 j * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies6 F& {) w, h5 l( H8 D( A
* Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
9 q W d% s+ U1 u, ]8 ` * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community) l; l& A' O6 X9 c
* Fundraising skills an asset
; Q1 Q, _' y9 N8 L2 Z1 e * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills8 Y4 ^( n' P+ o& g! K) h& ]
* Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills9 r# a: W7 {# | x
* Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills7 C6 w$ B" c X9 R
* Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills
