    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
: y, g% }/ ~. ~3 P+ j1 g9 m    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group
* e) Q) N% n, Q; ?( o/ e+ h/ ~2 |    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators4 L" T! V, {, ~
    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations
9 @3 I! q: L+ ^& w: B/ w0 k& e    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director
& A  u7 P9 O) _8 w# K2 Q4 J    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses
7 J! l: y* v# N    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth
9 i8 l3 n8 J1 M1 P) G    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program
9 [2 J# w# B% h! b, M) \    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment, S4 w3 T. N" Y9 p% z, C1 }
    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports7 j6 O* L- S- b  Y/ b
    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs
. ?* f1 o: l: n7 {    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly
: h/ B( t0 ]! j, P' ?* b    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities
. w* q" K9 d+ R. E; C3 e    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools! `5 x! Z! [/ S4 o1 u5 A6 }7 m

4 ~0 `1 d+ o7 v' jQualifications
' @8 C, k+ M( l$ i6 o2 v0 x- h4 Q& V% `, @( F: ?; X/ p2 g
    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline
+ @8 V6 q! c$ h' A    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
# }0 Q" @0 r4 W( T7 r    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies+ O! l3 i; }3 `' c
    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs7 M& d: v' V6 f3 B9 Q0 [
    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community
4 ?6 ?2 T1 ]4 O$ R* }% j" B  b7 c    * Fundraising skills an asset# N7 d& n% `) W8 y4 l' n$ _; k
    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills1 t7 R0 H7 |. ?; l5 L% l
    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills
8 K$ e2 o0 o2 x) t0 @  ?    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills$ L5 x1 M/ p5 ]7 \- `" @6 C3 F
    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills3 M# p! [# j; r+ U
    * Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset
