    * Develops, implements, monitors, and evaluates programs and services to address the unique educational and social needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans-identified,two-spirited and queer (LGBTTQ) youth in the Edmonton region
8 y/ T$ ^8 `5 p" B- t# o: I    * Develops and delivers community-based programming and provides support services for Youth Understanding Youth, Edmonton's sexual minority community youth group
% s  I- A" J4 L% r9 I8 |- y2 d5 w    * Trains,motivates and supports volunteer adult facilitators
7 y. B1 E: W# W0 N; V    * Acts as a resource on LGBTTQ youth issues for Institute staff, community, and governmental organizations
8 T9 ~- f. ^/ }1 q, Z, b! V    * Provides interim quarterly reports and an overall annual productivity report and evaluation to the Assistant Director
: R0 H+ c. t4 a1 G    * Liaises with the Assistant Director in budget planning and management; monitors project related expenses
    * Advocates to meet the health, social and safety needs of LGBTTQ and questioning youth
    * Researches and develops a LGBTTQ youth mentoring program
  ?& a8 J) U1 S) ^2 l    * Develops, implements and monitors a LGBTTQ youth risk and needs assessment
' f3 L6 }4 j5 n0 X* g    * Develops benchmarks to assist in the evaluation of YUY programming and outreach supports
& k9 v3 c' _7 v, i; I    * Develops promotional materials such as posters, brochures, and displays to promote the youth group and mentoring programs
- }& ]+ I5 d2 h$ e- R; q( O    * Participates in the development of leadership training and educational programming at Camp fYrefly
    * Supports University of Alberta campus organizations for sexual minority students and gay-straight student alliances in local high schools and communities
4 e6 ^  }# \' M7 K- F, A! \: Z    * Develops a communications and advertising strategy targeting community agencies, youth groups/programs, and schools

Qualifications

    * Bachelor's degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related professional discipline
5 |& }! z3 T' N) ?+ {7 W* C# S    * Three to five years experience in community development with a particular emphasis on sexual minority youth
1 `0 d& w, n" |8 P6 _    * Knowledge in adolescent development, health and sex education, violence prevention,suicide intervention, alcohol and substance abuse, HIV and STI prevention and harm reduction strategies
, ^$ |+ K# ]8 Z0 v4 V    * Experience in developing and providing youth-oriented programs
    * Demonstrated effectiveness in working with the LGBTTQ community
/ ?: I2 T( V9 I6 W" j# e    * Fundraising skills an asset
" O) O; W0 H" a    * Demonstrated experience in development of youth group programming, community outreach,volunteer management and training and conflict resolution skills
    * Outstanding group facilitation, training, and counselling skills
# c6 S0 s0 p. G' h% H7 i    * Proven leadership, and strong team, and relationship building skills
    * Excellent communication (oral, written, and web-based), organizational and interpersonal skills
    * Understanding of other languages and experiences working within Aboriginal and ethnocultural communities an asset
