. s! t: V. w/ P * Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis+ W/ R8 M5 {) Y
* Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography7 K/ Z3 S* r6 d; I! U! x
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques% K. D0 g+ ]& b) R J% t
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client/ R" J6 `, C0 L- R& b. h
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
" J* Z& c1 D5 ^- e/ ]( D. E$ B: a * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals

* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices* `5 [1 H( Q% W0 I& [$ v8 N
* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS)2 |. a% j% `/ O; T
1 p8 w/ J0 ~& p! m& {9 c3 P$ RQualifications0 p* O; c0 w0 E% H' i" K* l
: D! [% E/ R0 f+ l- A% p * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
1 O6 b' J2 ?1 `7 V. j * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)
7 _6 w, B* H' j7 f5 \7 O1 i * Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel
0 Z% Q( ~ K* D8 M; X& l0 u * A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
( o$ E/ c6 Y0 z3 Y8 \" P * Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment
