Duties
: ~% v" M3 v# N. E! h9 }+ x1 G! {9 q3 |5 w$ G# w
* Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis
4 c- J1 [! g; S( [/ D * Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography4 g; T0 G7 C7 n4 I3 q
* Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques2 ^( E) A; C3 T. Z
* Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client( v6 q* Q5 Y9 Z9 v, x
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry1 f$ @% B4 ]- s2 ], o" V* t
* Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
8 h+ x' F, x% G9 N8 ] * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab
7 E& U2 ^+ F" U' `, a4 G/ x * Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices

Qualifications
( f/ Y O) F% J
+ W% d: ` o$ M- @- \1 d9 ]3 x/ V * Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred
& g' b2 z/ Z3 I5 R0 l* u * 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab)
+ F, t6 O" X Q# L l* ` * Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel9 ?5 A% a1 N6 O! B P
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures5 e1 ?* [! d5 ]6 q
* Experience conducting routine maintenance on standard rock sample preparation equipment4 J$ \# j% j$ D
