( V% H" d4 a0 p* w4 c * Provides routine technical and administrative support for sample preparations and mineral separation for isotopic analysis
* U( M3 W: j, z+ {2 \. k * Conducts mineral separation, sample imaging, grant mount preparation, sample weighing and iron exchange chromatography
5 a9 V+ X8 s9 e9 O5 M4 } * Provides training to graduate students, visiting scientists on preparation techniques
2 S; M ~& X$ W; {- Q7 @* W * Compiles analytical data using standard office software such as Excel, Word and Corel for use by the PI or client1 B$ \. X5 j: O4 N: u7 s
* Performs routine maintenance on equipment and lab husbandry
6 d: P4 d* k: x/ q# Q * Orders supplies, maintains lab records, maintain WHMIS records and compliance labeling, maintains lab inventory and safe disposal of chemicals
; i' L2 n. b& I* Y% u& H * Provides safety training to students, staff and visitors using the lab/ |' j: |# z, D& [' h; _+ C
* Provides administrative support by maintaining records, (usage and expenses) and prepares invoices7 B. B* A' H# O* f% q: u
* Assists with laser ablation analyses on the multi-collector inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometer (ICPMS), |& T; O7 X6 u8 I
/ C! h3 A$ A; t8 Z% CQualifications: g9 U7 q7 j1 w O# q- T" M! b4 q

* Post Secondary diploma in laboratory technology, Chemistry or Earth Sciences; BSc in Geology or Chemistry preferred7 O, k3 w! d1 U8 i
* 1-2 years experience working in a research environment (analytical chemistry lab or geochemical lab); I/ ^7 p9 }4 g, h
* Computer proficiency using MS Office applications and Corel3 j. P9 j2 [/ c$ x
* A thorough knowledge of lab safety protocols and WHMIS procedures
