General Description
. T/ B' _, O  i; vThe Peace Talks Project is a unique combination of community partnerships and agencies responding to the issues of bullying within the community. The Peace Talks (PT) Learning Team[1] have partnered with Alberta Conflict Transformation Society (ACTS)[2] to develop the Peace Talks Coordinator position. The Coordinator identifies and addresses gaps and develops interventions for those affected by bullying within designated schools.

Qualifications:
' c2 m  Q! x0 A. i7 {Diploma/Degree in Child and Youth Care/Human Services/Community Development or equivalent education/experience. Knowledge of the school system, connections within the helping community, awareness of family violence and bullying behavior are required. The ability to network, engage with youth, develop the program and take initiative is an asset.
& R9 `; \0 o5 u9 EWe request that the candidate must experience working with youth.
Experience in working with/within the school setting would be of benefit.

The Peace Talks Coordinator would address bullying on all levels within the school culture commencing with the students. They will engage with individual schools and or school clusters to develop bullying prevention and intervention strategies. A focus would be in dealing with areas where there are gaps within the school system or community. The project coordinator will oversee the project work in schools and with clusters groups reporting to the Learning Team.

9 L9 g) t7 P% j% J  t4 b- G  ~Identify gaps in addressing bullying (Pre and post testing of students and schools by administering surveys to schools, compiling results)

Meet with Principals/teachers with yearly plan to address unique school needs

( O! R( W$ H1 T& s  s' sDesign activities for building positive relationships

Develop (and deliver) lesson plans for presentations and programs which may include:

* X: E2 C! b% e" tFacilitate bullying sessions as required

/ Z9 U( g& ?( ~& X6 d2 c  QWork one-on-one with students regarding bullying behaviors as required
o
Provide presenters and information to schools on bullying and asset building

Attend school functions such as activity days, open houses, as relevant

Provide activities for programs such as after lunch time and after school

  K& F$ R% r+ j5 _8 UResearch and understand the current trends and issues impacting youth to engage in positive relationships and develop or maintain current resource binder

Identify emerging needs and provide a collaborative response

5 L/ g  v# `  C% UThe Peace Talks Learning Team is looking for someone who is comfortable with the big picture, putting thoughts into action, passionate views on personal and community safety, bullying behavior, capacity building, and peaceful interventions. The Peace Talks Coordinator is required to work in a team setting and reports to the Peace Talks Learning Team.
