% P% P, ^% ]7 HAs part of the City of Edmonton's Newcomer Internship Program, we are seeking a highly motivated internationally trained Accountant to work as an intern for a period of 11 months. The objective of this program is to provide foreign trained professionals with meaningful Canadian work experience related to their qualifications, skills and experience. ) m. B8 [* \: {1 }

Reporting to the Manager of Corporate Accountants Payable and Receivable, you will perform professional/senior technical accounting work involving control over processing and maintenance of complex and diverse accounts receivable and billing financial systems and records. This may include:: c% K0 [3 W( \$ u/ Z- _- Q
• Assisting in reviewing the overall accounting system and inter-related financial processes within a diversified accounting environment
, ~' ~+ a ]: `# j4 b• Developing performance reports, including monthly billing and collection activity, customer profile, and specialized reports including year end financial statements
* h9 J0 H4 ^, T( v; d• Providing technical and professional advice and assistance to business are officials in matters of financial policies and procedures under the shared services delivery module5 Q7 q* Y3 G* z X( ?+ O' t; `
• Performing complex trend analysis, transactional analysis and reconciliation's
( u' h5 p* m7 r8 `) G1 \• Applying a high level of analysis in providing value added AP/AR services and recommendations to customers

• University degree obtained outside of Canada (bachelor or applied) in an accounting-related discipline
# |! N& E- x; d4 I9 }% B5 W• Working towards a Canadian accounting designation (CGA, CMA, CA) would be considered an asset' w6 B. B5 K# H9 P4 b3 x( F, W, ?
• Three (3) years of progressively responsible international accounting experience
8 {- g/ g2 B1 K6 E1 o& ^• A basic working knowledge of Corporate Financial Systems7 g" i- L1 ~0 g& e9 J, L6 g& u7 F1 _
• Demonstrated competency in the use of Microsoft Office applications and spreadsheets1 K7 n% ^$ [/ j
• Demonstrated ability to deal courteously with the public and make decisions within established policies
+ r; N: d9 [/ m. o9 M) p• A basic knowledge of accounting, administrative procedures and regulations including GAAP and GST
