JERUSALEM - Israel is sending disaster relief to China.+ v# }: O# n" p8 z, A8 O9 E
! `; W0 l, _9 _$ v2 P; w7 W2 `Foreign Ministry spokesman Arye Mekel says a plane is on the way to southern China carrying clothing, medical supplies, generators and tents for victims of the May 12 earthquake.& z) }0 e1 r! U- x# w

Mekel estimated the shipment was worth US$1.5 million and said it was due to arrive in China later today.( p$ y& I' L& v2 d8 ]- @" i
! d: [% k \6 ] L( t( eAccording to Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni, "This is the minimum that the State of Israel can do in order to express the friendship between Israel and the Chinese people."
