Position title: Community Development Worker

Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team. % b/ s1 }! N+ c7 c# Y* {: a" M

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community
( k- u7 [0 c$ b- K" X" h/ z- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
7 j+ l1 S9 i7 \5 Z- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services4 q, ^1 o8 J0 H( ^
- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies

- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members

8 R1 X H% q' w- T3 a- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.

- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre

- assist in writing proposal for ISP
9 h7 f, n3 I; h+ z0 u- write quarterly and final reports for ISP

- hold regular meetings with ISP team

- update membership database

+ {/ K3 d- N1 B3 @$ t* W- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education ( x5 |" x: |: L" a" c
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills& W& B6 b4 P/ a0 U1 u$ r, z5 F
- experience in community work and immigrant services
