Hours of work: 35 hours per week

Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team.

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community

- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services

- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members; ~- M3 r! @; n' a0 I( v6 a/ P) a
- submit information for community news

- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities

- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre# ~$ A5 q9 l3 A* q/ B
- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services* v2 y- T: {5 {3 h
- assist in writing proposal for ISP
* S' `0 I; V& f- write quarterly and final reports for ISP4 g: W' W7 B) \: F9 u2 M3 a- [
- explore new ideas for ISP 8 @% i# m; D( ~ x! [
- hold regular meetings with ISP team
; m- C2 Z" J3 K0 i0 @/ Z Q5 U- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

% z) K7 F z8 Y- T. C; |/ `' j" N6 h- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required)

Qualifications
7 x( T2 a5 A: u2 Z, I' q) n" C2 \- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education # R" N( K3 L5 R3 ^- `$ _
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills
( ]/ I1 W2 I1 E% d3 {3 M- experience in community work and immigrant services
6 h3 P: \' g8 h0 y% J( {+ L- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars8 d4 k: m% q1 b+ Z2 O9 O
- leadership skills
