N8 V, PPosition Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team. + X" `; J& v* j: U& I9 `& `' V2 h9 p6 ~

Job Description:
% w( I- e. d1 N. D$ I- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community
$ l/ P% \4 z7 e: }5 |' M- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services, \2 \& t0 h$ ~1 N
- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services
; X9 e6 b7 l# `7 {- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies
% N- P: { F1 H8 h" e6 n% U" J- coordinate good will activities' y- H E$ b, ^; c' q3 y( I; r/ d& b
- coordinate and send out quarterly newsletter to members! C) b! Y" W Z+ t5 K4 s2 ~; w
- submit information for community news
- x. y% P" o6 l- prepare and send AGM information to members
5 u0 k W6 M* ^ J! q3 O- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.& X% t6 _( P% ~& h+ a8 Z& @ c
- participate in ISP department and agency meetings/activities) L' L6 X7 K5 R2 n2 U+ X* }1 i" ^
- update ASSIST website$ @- _2 {: v5 f0 b& ?6 I5 ? f q& E8 v% h
- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre
& m h% X8 ?; x4 \& J4 x5 r- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services
$ Q# {: n* E4 Z( J- assist in writing proposal for ISP
8 A, L2 V$ R2 c# E0 h, J6 O" b+ G- write quarterly and final reports for ISP

- hold regular meetings with ISP team Y* i* z+ J- z% c
- assist with Centre’s other activities or programs as prescribed from time to time

- work flexible hours (including evenings, weekends as required)

- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education 3 Z( f2 [& x- d. I/ B
- good oral and written Chinese and English skills" f- Y7 a; R& g: x
- experience in community work and immigrant services/ m) g$ B Y8 @ d( G
- ability to coordinate workshops and seminars9 E) ]; v3 z1 g4 p. s2 }8 _! p. O
- leadership skills
