Position title: Community Development Worker

Position Summary: Within the broad guidelines of Immigrant Settlement Program (ISP) funded by Citizenship and Immigration Canada, and Alberta Employment, Immigration & Industry, the community development worker coordinates workshops seminars and activities. This individual reports to the ISP program manager and provides support to all members of the ISP team. * D! m# S9 m1 N( L$ ]1 m+ y5 f

- community development, liaison with mainstream agencies to provide services for Chinese community+ `' e. Q! C0 U( w0 \
- workshops, seminars, activities that give Chinese population access to mainstream services
5 x q4 m( L: m- fulfill needs that are not met in Chinese community in terms of social services# k' a$ a) E, y) ~$ h8 g
- develop good working relationships with mainstream and ethnic agencies8 \ n) z X$ [: _
- coordinate good will activities

- assist in special events coordinating: Open House, AGM, Volunteer Appreciation, etc.

- update ASSIST website6 q, G* e1 X, W/ R
- demonstrate team spirit in achieving vision and objectives of Centre N# y3 J+ G0 z, g8 U5 k3 q
- participate in external committees/conferences/workshops related to immigrant services5 W: i9 z" P5 D& O) R6 a0 ^
- assist in writing proposal for ISP
g4 \0 x& J, _: W& x( S- write quarterly and final reports for ISP* _% v( ]# P" F: a
- explore new ideas for ISP
2 h. I; m3 M! a' n- hold regular meetings with ISP team

- update membership database

- degree/diploma in social/human sciences with 1 year of relevant experience or equivalent of experience and education
1 q: |9 t" _" w5 Z8 o7 r( ]. r- good oral and written Chinese and English skills; Y; H; q+ @" O/ I1 T3 w
- experience in community work and immigrant services
