Job Description

Board
! l( h! U! P8 y, \; a1 J4 X•        reports directly to the Board of Directors
- R' z+ r  M6 H9 _+ p+ n( P; h•        is accountable to the Board for the achievement of the agency’s vision mission and goals9 h6 e2 d" C# r/ _' Z
•        is fiscally accountable to the Board with all projects and administration of the agency within an approved budget by the Board( _  D* q# I5 [9 F( E! @
•        assist the Board in fund development planning and implementation8 G, n9 \& a/ P6 T& ?

Agency

•        is accountable to meet community expectations and funders’ requirements
7 y% b# ]6 C% M4 s0 a2 b5 E•        develop/review and administer operational policies and procedures
5 U# t" \/ D* h4 P9 ^•        development and management of the programs budget
; k$ N! w0 a0 S•        develop, implement and manage operational and programming budgets

Staff! A" F/ w' c& [
•        responsible for recruitment, selection, training and performance appraisal and termination of staff
- U: m0 i" A: B' \2 L. d•        provide leadership to staff and volunteers' R. w1 S. z# u9 t5 e
•        provide day to day leadership to support staff in programming functions9 j2 a) i% j, @" j; m
•        monitor progress of agency service providers and coordinators
. ]* V: u( q: s3 f7 Z% M7 r$ A•        provide opportunities for staff development and growth/ x' B  f3 h) m/ P+ ?, F5 W/ O
•        meet with staff on regular basis' Q3 ?+ i3 W' i( r/ @. N% [
•        build and maintain collegial and strong working relationships with staff" r8 p( m9 e$ J0 S

' z* ?, s; v* C0 }7 u" d+ {Programs/Services
4 L9 g5 i5 d) ?& o8 h  q•        overall management of all agency projects/programs and services  k6 Y. \& \1 }% w" A' y3 R
•        design, develop and monitor client-centred programs and activities
$ E) U3 S0 t! E* y; @% x•        prepare, complete and submit all program proposals including budgets and reports to the funders and key stakeholders
9 b8 v4 T  w( t& i3 K  [•        set program priorities and directions
/ h4 x* g: E3 B+ k•        identify community and user needs and trends
/ h3 }! {0 C4 _+ L3 q+ ]# g* b! I) \•        implement and monitor programs and community activities to meet identified needs and trends
, p* Z' H* `8 I, O9 s" z- a& _, S•        conduct program evaluation/survey/research1 D$ _, d9 G  F  s% |5 @
•        maintenance of appropriate reporting
* @- D9 Q$ j4 k% Q: }6 e. M•        delivery of program or activity to participants as required
6 [5 o' [( c$ ]•        build on knowledge of community resources in program development
. _- H3 P0 @% a: G6 f% F+ ?•        ensure programs serve to enhance the coping capacities and well-being of people by removing inhumane systems or barriers and to empower people to work on positive changes in themselves and in others# Q% I. ?3 B3 R/ ]" d/ y) @+ Z9 I

External Relations
  N. Z4 n! ?) ~# e" J. m) R& f•        act as community liaison and cultural broker between the immigrant community and other communities
6 ~' l5 G4 i' G8 k- M•        build, maintain strong relationships with all levels of governments, businesses, community groups, public  & funders1 z  e4 ?# X; z8 [8 Q
•        communicate the value of the organization to the public
/ S% U3 Z% f# J0 ~/ W•        identify community needs and trends
3 u2 S' K0 \5 G3 L•        coordinate and monitor significant programs through liaison/partnership with other community groups
' E) }& _% c  a% Y9 h3 d/ N•        advocate, educate, promote cross-cultural respect & understanding of immigrants, visible minorities & other at risk or multi-risks groups# n" d3 h& U) A1 u
•        work with community and social agencies/groups to raise awareness of systemic issues affecting people from a broad socio-economic spectrum to social policy makers and to lobby for social changes in society, legislation and systems.1 y0 r; I) h' ^' ~( X. S; n
•        Identify funding opportunities and resources that enhance the agency programs/services and staff
. \3 S6 X! r$ |) p+ o; _1 A8 s- G" a1 k3 P7 V
Qualifications
' ~& {- V. s9 L  D* ^4 t-        University degree in a related field;
8 G2 @/ h1 {9 `; z1 v  T: c# f5 t-        Knowledge of leadership and management principles as relate to nonprofit / voluntary organization;
8 T9 H9 q/ t% D  F% I9 a# `# c-        Knowledge of human resources management, financial management, project management, fund development and organizational management;
0 o4 J$ H! D5 \5 O- v-        2 or more years of progressive management experience in a voluntary sector organization
+ ^! z4 P( E: k0 c0 a6 x2 `# h. l, \  [" F/ `% }$ N9 Q
Salary
! x, M5 b" X3 l0 C* X  M-        $50,000 - $55,000 + benefits 4 g4 h7 [3 @  H! ^' Y0 \" F

Standard Requirements
& s5 x8 n5 i7 Z$ c- V" G6 ]. X-        Security check ( at the expense of employee) and child welfare check
