Edmonton Transit is currently seeking applications for the challenging position of Conventional Transit Operator — for positions starting in Summer 2007. This is a long term posting with the successful applicants being called to fill positions on an ‘as-required’ basis.

• Transport passengers to and from destinations on prescribed scheduled routes.

• Operate a Transit diesel bus and/or trolley coach, on a day, night or split shift under varying weather % F) a, u% K' y+ e

• Adhere to schedules.
( G, G4 b8 B4 x4 M2 L x• Obey and follow defensive driving guidelines, local traffic laws and Transit system regulations.

?- S& T; u2 |9 a+ \• Grade eleven (11) or an equivalent educational level is required. Formal training in driving or public relations will be considered an asset.

/ S" t3 g( b0 v5 Z• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the job (operate bus controls, re-set trolley poles, provide passengers with assistance i.e. strollers, wheelchairs etc.).
! V O/ Q6 \2 v3 S• Applicant must possess a valid class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's license (non-probationary and non-graduated) and must have held a valid operator's license for (3) consecutive years.
0 Z/ p6 W1 c4 I0 \& y• Selected applicants must pass the Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's class 2 written test, at their own expense, prior to training.
3 g; A! X7 k, U+ g4 c6 X9 ^• Applicant must provide a current driver's abstract (obtained within 14 days of the video test date)
+ ^) n+ b5 n& V- p M h, ^# F9 Sshowing no suspensions and no more than 3 demerits recorded over the previous 2 year period.
: {: c o; T! q2 [# t• Ability to pass a written English comprehension test, a public relations video-test, a driving skill ) k. B8 O; V8 P+ r& j6 `7 H g8 J
video-test, a Functional Abilities Recruitment Evaluation (F.A.R.E.) test, a pre-employment City medical examination and a Police Security clearance (at their own expense, prior to training).

Training Rate: $16.56 Hourly
