volunteerism in Alberta. By working with nonprofit organizations/youth
ages 14-24, we foster collaboration between motivated youth,
organizations and citizens wanting to build healthier societies and more

Position Abstract: The Executive Director provides day-to-day management
and leadership of Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! (AYV!). The ED is a
1 V0 n. k8 {3 m: U1 u8 ^' a$ Tnon-voting member and champions youth volunteerism in Alberta.  The ED
works within the structures set by the organization's bylaws and
( ]- A3 {9 Q# [5 v% Qpolicies to ensure ethical and professional management of organization's
affairs at all times.
& z( p7 `$ @6 D8 R7 }
/ X0 ?( \' T7 CPrimary Responsibilities: Helps Board of Directors in developing a
7 t+ G6 L; D$ Q1 |! w$ g/ C, qvision & strategic plan; Establish strong relationships & collaborative
+ m/ i- N2 l/ A: marrangements with community groups, sponsors, governments, schools,
media/other stakeholders to achieve the goals of AYV!; Prepare reports
0 T' Q0 w2 }: i* a8 Tfor the Board; Assist the Board in drafting policies/prepare procedures
3 J# i) b- ]: gto implement the organizational policies.
$ X- S7 N0 a3 s' K
PLUS: Ensure good record keeping; Ensure funders' grants are stewarded
as per their requirements; Plan, implement and evaluate programs and
services; Recruit, interview, select & coach staff/volunteers that have
the right abilities to help further the organization's mission.

( R5 C% n1 [+ [* uIn addition: Prepare budget; Search & secure adequate; oversees the
+ W  h) D; r! @9 [development of fundraising plans/writing funding proposals; Administer
the funds of the organization & monitor the monthly cash flow; Ensure
that bookkeeping/accounting practices are followed; Process accounts
payable; Develop communication/marketing tools to increase awareness of
: }2 f* J4 Q; ^. v% R: \& [6 hthe organization & its programs; Work with website contractor/developer.

Key Qualifications: Experience working with a number of different groups
including a Board of Directors, non-profit organizations, government
, P2 \& c( E" S) I( gpartners sponsors, employees, volunteers, and youth; Understanding of
* V6 X! O) H" z3 V! {* ~organizational financial management and CRA requirements; Ability to
work in a self-directed work environment; Experience planning and
managing projects and budgets.

PLUS: Creative approach to marketing; Understanding of board governance
processes an asset; Experience obtaining sponsorship and writing
proposals; A youthful spirit and enthusiasm for championing and working
with youth.
