society led by a youth board of directors to enhance/encourage youth
; f8 T# W9 R" }! L6 K" \volunteerism in Alberta. By working with nonprofit organizations/youth
ages 14-24, we foster collaboration between motivated youth,
" S  ^* `0 `2 Dorganizations and citizens wanting to build healthier societies and more
sustainable communities.

Position Abstract: The Executive Director provides day-to-day management
+ h* Z2 r$ S: k4 S: K) ?+ W9 v  \and leadership of Alberta's YouthVOLUNTEER! (AYV!). The ED is a
- V6 A& s3 u, V3 Enon-voting member and champions youth volunteerism in Alberta.  The ED
2 H* F- W9 l" |0 [9 E8 }( r: c' X% Pworks within the structures set by the organization's bylaws and
* F2 R7 `$ f9 X9 ?/ w0 _* n/ wpolicies to ensure ethical and professional management of organization's
, g1 a9 v- k: G) Kaffairs at all times.

) c/ G: L1 Q7 RPrimary Responsibilities: Helps Board of Directors in developing a
) j; D' B; R" K  K" a- c9 vvision & strategic plan; Establish strong relationships & collaborative
+ A9 o+ |. @% B2 v( Narrangements with community groups, sponsors, governments, schools,
media/other stakeholders to achieve the goals of AYV!; Prepare reports
! v* E) K8 \4 T/ ]for the Board; Assist the Board in drafting policies/prepare procedures
to implement the organizational policies.
) c) ]9 c4 U9 N8 F) e' n+ A
PLUS: Ensure good record keeping; Ensure funders' grants are stewarded
as per their requirements; Plan, implement and evaluate programs and
9 a* [9 B4 r6 T( u  a" xservices; Recruit, interview, select & coach staff/volunteers that have
- ]8 J4 W+ M- y1 l0 x: L$ Q7 h( lthe right abilities to help further the organization's mission.

In addition: Prepare budget; Search & secure adequate; oversees the
development of fundraising plans/writing funding proposals; Administer
the funds of the organization & monitor the monthly cash flow; Ensure
! n5 X% a4 G1 ?) Fthat bookkeeping/accounting practices are followed; Process accounts
$ y5 c$ y7 g" E9 g4 o+ N* j) ]payable; Develop communication/marketing tools to increase awareness of
the organization & its programs; Work with website contractor/developer.

3 j. z& M# n  F7 M( O; MKey Qualifications: Experience working with a number of different groups
( M( m/ j( H4 f; Iincluding a Board of Directors, non-profit organizations, government
partners sponsors, employees, volunteers, and youth; Understanding of
organizational financial management and CRA requirements; Ability to
work in a self-directed work environment; Experience planning and

PLUS: Creative approach to marketing; Understanding of board governance
processes an asset; Experience obtaining sponsorship and writing
proposals; A youthful spirit and enthusiasm for championing and working
with youth.
