Drainage Services, Asset Management & Public Works! U0 Z& h- {9 l: y& Y$ l' u6 R3 `
• Construction of sewer lines, catch basins, access and drop manholes, watermains, feedmains, hydrants, ditches, water appurtenances, concrete structures such as storm outlets., \. B. j$ L4 A: K; I
• Digging holes and trenches by hand, excavation activities on major open cut projects ensuring placement of shoring, timbers, and struts; cutting, grinding levelling, jointing and laying of pipe.8 F& S# [7 D6 k
• Repairing sewer services, main lines and pumping stations; cleaning sewer and drainage systems by low pressure flushing; assisting drainage servicemen in inspecting, rodding and televising sewer services; repairing manholes and catchbasins; assisting equipment operators in performing high pressure flushing and vaccuum cleaning activities.

2 A: M! M! d' t8 S$ q8 k• Maintenance of parks: mowing, herbiciding and sanitation of turf, shrub and flower bed maintenance, marking & maintaining sports fields, playground inspections and servicing.
" @8 n b7 \' u% W* O/ t• Construction of parks: manual labour using hand tools such as shovels, rakes and stake pounders.
. K1 ?6 L0 L b1 \4 F" P) H• Park service and trail maintenance: including sanitation of picnic sites, amenity buildings, repair of signs, roadways, trail surfaces, irrigation & homeless camps.5 O/ [/ c9 d& h R
• Forestry operations including various arboriculture tasks- assist in the development and maintenance of the urban forest.

• Labourers may be provided with rate up opportunities where required.* B# c- m, p/ e% w% B% q
Roadway Maintenance / Traffic Field Operations, Transportation
( V% I: }$ L+ \+ s, t5 s• Asphalt/concrete repairs, cracksealing, and paving.% F. a# W4 T! I* V+ }
• Performing structural concrete/steel duties on bridge maintenance (must be able to work heights).. j& o! C9 h9 V# U9 ]4 B/ d# }$ j8 x
• Pouring, spreading, tamping and leveling soil, sand, gravel and concrete.' e9 S2 V9 N& @6 s+ m
• Working in traffic during street construction/maintenance projects.
! C+ Z6 H' v- L: ^• Installation, maintenance and removal of road markings, traffic / detour control devices.

• Golf course, driving range, and park maintenance including turf mowing, fertilizer and pesticide application.+ W% C- z! q) q/ p6 [" o& x9 ?
• Internments at cemetaries; concrete pouring of foundations and markers; monument restoration.
3 d$ v0 W( O) w$ J l• Operating and performing minor maintenance with equipment such as: small hand tools, push lawn mowers, trimmers, edgers, small rototillers, and chain saws.
* Z3 B( X% ?( P" b Q• Set up and take down of furniture and equipment for events and bookings at Recreation Facilities.
( p) k! o9 `$ S }! q8 X$ j J• Assists with on-going general facility maintenance and cleaning at Recreation Facilities.

Job Requirements:
* u8 p5 y0 ?0 y0 T) n• Completion of the eighth school grade or equivalent. Must be indicated on application/resume.& | \- C1 u5 Y4 z
• Possession of a valid Motor Vehicle Operator's License. Must be indicated on application/resume.
7 o9 P1 |, X( T( r# {• Applicants may be tested, and where required to operate a City vehicle, must attain a City of Edmonton driving permit upon appointment.& }0 X' @9 f% v4 q6 q; f# O2 c! G; A/ ^
• Physically capable of performing heavy labour work for extended periods of time under various weather and traffic conditions.
% m B% F8 z" ~0 ]7 V• Manual dexterity to operate simple hand and/or power tools and small equipment.8 w( W: w( a; ]* M
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions." V6 v5 A% X- b
• Team player & self-motivated, possibility of working alone on scheduled shift.: h2 S' p$ T& t; D/ s: }
HOURS OF WORK: Up to 40 hours per week. Hours of work will vary with each position. These positions may be subject to shift work, providing coverage 7 days per week. Please indicate if you’re interested in shift work.
6 P' W8 F+ M9 z5 o# F+ sSALARY RANGE: 10M, Salary Grade: 013, starting at $15.11 (Hourly). Rates are based on employee status and length of service. The rates quoted are in accordance with an agreement between the Union and the City.
