A Strange Occurrence+ }( }) [& ]2 q& M3 s
* ` K9 o( r; y `This strange event happened when I was in Montreal. When I worked in a liquor store, there was a man who came to the store every night and paid for his alcohol completely in coins. At the beginning, I just felt curious about his dibs. Why did he only have coins? * `" G5 z6 H9 z. Q
One day, I took the subway train downtown. A shadow caught my attention. I saw there was a homeless person. He was wearing dirty clothes and ate the leftover food. However, he did not forget to show his poor face to ask for money. He was a smart man because he chose a place that had a huge traffic of people which made it easy for him to get more money by only sitting there. There, almost everyone threw him a coin to show their sympathy. That was the source of his coins. However, he used all of this money for alcohol. He was an alcoholic. 3 Y" ~& o" R# |& Y1 K+ [0 C# b
When I went back to work that night, he came in again as before. Because he was a homeless person, the government gave him a place to live and food. Why didn’t he find a job? Maybe, that was the easiest way to make a “salary”. Should people give him money for drink if they know they will continually have to give him? That makes me feel strange; I think people just sympathize him. However, if nobody gives him the money, is he going to try using his power to gain money? I think maybe we should not give him money, not because we are not kind but because maybe that is why he is lazy.
) x4 W, a% U9 y3 D4 l8 M2 x' |) Z3 EAlso, I think there are a lot of people who have the same experience as me. If we do not give them money, maybe we can help them to find a new life. |
