Position: Part-time Assistant

Location: Research Data Centre, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta
8 e( o0 i# ]0 e6 y9 YHourly rate: $20 ($40,101 per annum prorated at 12 hours per week)
$ B8 C6 Q( C0 ]+ V* l- tEmployment Tenure: Part-time/Causal (approximately 12 hours per week). The incumbent’s
+ O) T, o7 i! ]schedule should be reasonably flexible.

& M0 W! j- r: d( UStatistics Canada is looking for a reliable individual for a part-time position to work evenings and
weekend hours.
1 f0 w+ a; j- s0 F* L+ i5 m4 OYou will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the Research Data Centre (RDC) computer
  R$ i& H1 W" p8 b' W' `lab located on the University of Alberta campus as well as providing administrative support for the
centre.
& M6 D5 y  Z: V4 jThese responsibilities include:
-Maintain the integrity of the security systems in the RDC.
8 s- c! u5 f$ X+ A3 ]-Provide basic support to clients on operating Window XP.
-Provide general office administration support, such as filing, upgrading software and
9 {& }* N& ?. Lrenewing licenses, communicating with various university departments with respect to
5 j& O) N! Z6 M4 Z! _9 p0 W& |facilities’ maintenance, etc.
$ l% T# k* [2 w-Conduct other office related tasks, such as Internet documents search, backup of electronic
0 s2 M$ I( R1 @. o2 r& q2 u; i  ]clients’ files etc.
Statement of Qualifications
Education:
-Successful completion of Bachelor degree in administration, business, computer sciences,
( F+ s' Q1 Y% z" [, w/ I, }8 veducation, economics, sociology, statistics or related discipline; or an acceptable combination
of education, training and /or experience.
Knowledge/Technical competencies:
- K9 N' Q8 Y/ Q! i-General knowledge of the Microsoft Window operating system.
; ^9 g/ o& c6 r2 [3 o8 S  [3 o-Extensive experience in using Microsoft Window office application software including Word
  J: [! q. v- z: E' l) }and Excel.
-Experience using and updating an information database.

Assets:
* M8 B8 A4 f& g% L! ^/ j+ T-Experience in using MS Access.
-Experience in web page publication, xml and/or IT network knowledge.
( c$ m  X( U& u* _-Experience in one of the Statistics software: SAS, SPSS or STATA
: ]( s0 b+ q3 v+ d, dAbilities:
& O/ p( I4 D# K) f0 `+ R6 }-Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
& v) c- V+ V- N4 ^5 ^+ g. z3 }: }-Ability to operate a computerized system to research information.
-Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
