Position: Part-time Assistant

Location: Research Data Centre, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta
Hourly rate: $20 ($40,101 per annum prorated at 12 hours per week)
# `7 s( D8 c- W" s* J; K6 Z+ kEmployment Tenure: Part-time/Causal (approximately 12 hours per week). The incumbent’s
schedule should be reasonably flexible.
Language requirement: English essential

Job description
Statistics Canada is looking for a reliable individual for a part-time position to work evenings and
weekend hours.
( ~8 D6 p' c7 _7 JYou will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the Research Data Centre (RDC) computer
" z: V* k9 @* y) qlab located on the University of Alberta campus as well as providing administrative support for the
centre.
These responsibilities include:
-Maintain the integrity of the security systems in the RDC.
-Provide basic support to clients on operating Window XP.
5 u5 j* ^' T! f( O" w% b# \; t-Provide general office administration support, such as filing, upgrading software and
renewing licenses, communicating with various university departments with respect to
facilities’ maintenance, etc.
! n" ]! O+ C% x, W9 l, t" V8 u- B& y-Conduct other office related tasks, such as Internet documents search, backup of electronic
clients’ files etc.
Statement of Qualifications
Education:
4 n, |6 x5 m1 v$ j9 f0 H& K-Successful completion of Bachelor degree in administration, business, computer sciences,
education, economics, sociology, statistics or related discipline; or an acceptable combination
of education, training and /or experience.
4 ~0 M9 ]- l6 iKnowledge/Technical competencies:
, y( U9 N3 t- n  N; L" H-General knowledge of the Microsoft Window operating system.
-Extensive experience in using Microsoft Window office application software including Word
* ^5 ^, z" e2 C8 {and Excel.
-Experience using and updating an information database.

( B* X$ }- Z) d( I/ R( }# pAssets:
-Experience in using MS Access.
-Experience in web page publication, xml and/or IT network knowledge.
! F6 m* F  `: W5 [/ y9 a# A- n-Experience in one of the Statistics software: SAS, SPSS or STATA
Abilities:
-Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
-Ability to operate a computerized system to research information.
-Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
