The Research Data Centres (RDC) Program is part of an initiative from Statistics Canada, the
Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, the Canadian Institutes for Health

Location: Research Data Centre, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta
Hourly rate: $20 ($40,101 per annum prorated at 12 hours per week)
$ j; C3 T% |4 Y$ j1 [& d" VEmployment Tenure: Part-time/Causal (approximately 12 hours per week). The incumbent’s
schedule should be reasonably flexible.

- H# `4 {$ G0 mStatistics Canada is looking for a reliable individual for a part-time position to work evenings and
weekend hours.
You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the Research Data Centre (RDC) computer
7 l/ T1 v& _4 `( dlab located on the University of Alberta campus as well as providing administrative support for the
centre.
$ x8 B" y" C" XThese responsibilities include:
0 w) n8 o7 H: `-Maintain the integrity of the security systems in the RDC.
4 c. C7 }) [7 `' l3 M-Provide basic support to clients on operating Window XP.
4 O0 z  n' @- i# `5 O/ X-Provide general office administration support, such as filing, upgrading software and
renewing licenses, communicating with various university departments with respect to
3 B# ^/ D3 w. A$ ]. e2 Dfacilities’ maintenance, etc.
-Conduct other office related tasks, such as Internet documents search, backup of electronic
/ d9 V/ _, u) Z* C9 Kclients’ files etc.
Statement of Qualifications
# {: Y7 T$ p5 j  vEducation:
' Y& I+ [, r: m4 R: ^9 X3 _-Successful completion of Bachelor degree in administration, business, computer sciences,
# C; C* Q  A( n; \2 N+ [, I3 O3 y" ^education, economics, sociology, statistics or related discipline; or an acceptable combination
1 z; f% T- A2 n+ K$ z5 Xof education, training and /or experience.
Knowledge/Technical competencies:
-General knowledge of the Microsoft Window operating system.
1 d6 L4 M" S6 S+ p$ D4 @-Extensive experience in using Microsoft Window office application software including Word
/ Q9 y: p9 B3 vand Excel.
-Experience using and updating an information database.
9 t+ |+ S, ~/ s. X4 g  ]/ a
8 x4 H4 |2 @# ?9 F2 ~0 l1 lAssets:
0 F" r% a3 K- g$ o-Experience in using MS Access.
0 p4 a; L( k& p% ^+ x. S6 |-Experience in web page publication, xml and/or IT network knowledge.
-Experience in one of the Statistics software: SAS, SPSS or STATA
Abilities:
-Ability to communicate orally and in writing.
1 o9 L3 ^$ {, H# ^- g% Z) l) F8 _-Ability to operate a computerized system to research information.
3 z9 d# r- S3 T: C% @-Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

relations.
