TORONTO -- Sun Life Financial Inc. said Monday it is retiring the Clarica brand as part of a revised marketing strategy.
! m0 e5 K" z' s# pClarica was introduced in 1999 by Mutual life of Canada, and was acquired by Sun Life three years later.
+ w& D7 ]0 T+ K* V, Y( OThere are almost two million Clarica policy- and accountholders in Canada, said Sun Life. Clarica also has a sales force of about 3,500." }1 A5 {& P. }( G- E
! n% s5 R8 m/ S# \, l
The company said the changes will be completed by the first quarter of 2008. Sun Life will incur a $40-million to $50-million charge in the first quarter of 2007.
