Yussuf had picked up Strongman, Crane, Baptiste and Fiddler in the early hours that day outside a downtown Mac’s Milk store. Following Baptiste’s instructions, he drove the four to the northeast fringe of Edmonton where he’d been told to stop the car.0 M6 u' E/ f/ R" r; A# \! v! X: C
" |) ~; Z7 s% m9 u' J* E# zAccording to Fiddler’s testimony he was then stabbed repeatedly as he begged for his life, then thrown into the trunk of his cab. As Fiddler drove the cab back into Edmonton, his thrashing and kicking prompted Crane to tell Fiddler to stop the car. He and Strongman then got out, opened the trunk and finished the job. Police found Yussuf’s cab with his body inside four days later, after Fiddler reported the incident.

The time between the killing and her confession was marked by days of drinking and drug-taking, Fiddler testified. As the partying progressed, Ronald Crane told Fiddler’s boyfriend about the killing, then his mother. People came and went and when Fiddler ran out of money — she’d been given only $100 of the $800 stolen from Yussuf — she pawned her television set so she could buy more Colt 45 beer.

The killing had occurred on a Friday morning. By Monday afternoon, Strongman had left and Fiddler had kicked Crane and Baptiste out of her apartment. On Tuesday, the remorse caught up with her, she called police, gave a brief description of what had happened and asked that police come to her apartment. |
