$ U& |# f4 _2 K/ M　　A thousand leagues of whirling snow.

　　One single white immensity.

　　The Yellow River"s swift current

( D. B9 A  z! N' I1 e　　Is stilled from end to end.

; L& [( C+ U0 }6 `/ q1 Z% C! ^　　The mountains dance like silver snakes

/ `- c6 y0 h0 F# _+ G' P　　And the highlands* charge like wax-hued elephants,

　　Vying with heaven in stature.

# A+ c3 p0 B2 V　　On a fine day, the land,

" \" _2 b& `+ Q% q; I　　Clad in white, adorned in red,

　　Grows more enchanting.

　　This land so rich in beauty

, E! m" U# @* Z' d　　Has made countless heroes bow in homage.

　　But alas! Chin Shih-huang and Han Wu-ti

　　Were lacking in literary grace,

　　And Tang Tai-tsung and Sung Tai-tsu

% Q/ c& L0 ]* `# q- e8 M: k7 w2 p　　Had little poetry in their souls;
　　And Genghis Khan,
% F) N" [# o2 k% F( ?; H! [6 y- B% B/ P
　　Proud Son of Heaven for a day,

! e5 m4 r7 U) t( P　　Knew only shooting eagles, bow outstretched

　　All are past and gone!

　　For truly great men
