As long as you pay the Alberta Health Care Insurance every month, it will cover the expense of giving birth at any hospital, you don't need to spend your own money, no matter you're immigrant or not.

After baby is born, both of you will need to stay at the hospital for at least one day. AT this point, the Alberta Health Care only covers the expense for a shared room (4-person room), if you want to stay in a private room (single room), you'll have to pay for it, it was $40 per night about 2 years ago at the Royal Alex Hospital. Except for this, any service you'll be given at hospital is free of charge.

大姐你是不是在那儿生的啊？那个老医院住院病房真破的说啊！

不过不是生完之后（自然产）住院at least一天吧？是at most啊！我是晚上7点半生的小孩，他们说如果我8点生的话，第二天上午（几点来着，好像说上午8点）必须出院。结果我是下午一点多走的。

hehe.. anyway, no matter it looks "破" or not, I was told by a doctor that Royal Alex Hospital is the best one to deal with all kinds of conditions that might be happening during/before birth. The other hospitals only deal with normal birth, if there's anything wrong, the patients will be sent to Royal Alex. I ever met a lady who was sent there by Helicopter from outside of Edmonton, because of lots of unexpected bleeding at her 31 weeks' pregnancy.

My kid was born at the Royal Alex Hospital, and we stayed for about 23 hours there. I asked for a single room for one night, the room is good actually, but kind of small. It includs one bathroom, one bed, one sofa chair and some cabinets.

Since the expense of hospital care is very high, usually they'll let you go home within 24 hours as long as baby and mom is both doing good(自然产), or otherwise you'll need to stay for at least one day until everything is fine. If it's a C-section, you'll stay for a few days.

看来我还选对了医院啦！我就知道她是最早的医院，是教学医院

我生孩子的时候，说是病房有新旧之分，我可能倒霉住在旧的了。即使个人房间，也是两个人share 卫生间的，不过就一天也无所谓的。

想不通你为什么要自费? 只要你有健康保险, 就不需要你自己掏钱. 我听说, 这里生病自费住院一天的花费是2000多, 还不包括用药, 点滴等等项目. 生孩子不太清楚, 但肯定不会少.

一样,我记得好象是如果没有入保险加国居民住院1600(大概的数)不是居民2千多.
楼主是不是在国内,现在想到这里生孩子呀.
到这里上学,工作,探亲的人都会买医疗保险.

如果你要是刨腹产肯定更贵,因为听我一个朋友说,缝伤口用的钉,在国内一个8百人民币
她用了8个,还有用药等.
这里没人没保险生孩子的.生不起
不过好在,如果要自然生,在医院里就呆48小时.然后孩子还有儿科大夫体检,打防疫针,
这些没有保险也的收费,那就不知道多少钱了.
对了,我上个贴子说的钱只是住院费,不包括别的.

即使不是移民，是探亲的话，你可以买保险啊。有的保险公司不用查体，就可以直接投保。那样，住院生孩子都不用花钱了。保险每月60多，最高可以保到3万多，足够生孩子的费用了。自费大概1万左右。还得是顺产。刨腹产还要多吧？

那倒是啊。我估计十万人民币差不多。北京有个和睦家医院，收费和西方差不多，生一个孩子就是十万人民币左右

不需要多买. 既然你是INTERNATIONAL STUDENT,按规定你是应该注册ALBERTA的省健康保险计划的,两个人每月几十块钱,生孩子就不用担心了.如果你还没有,不如尽快去注册,不光是生孩子的问题,平时检查个身体生个病看个大夫什么的,都用的上.
