Builders started construction on 468 new single detached homes last month, a 34 per cent increase from August 2013.8 s0 D6 q' F; I/ [$ [. \- l

“Right now we're running flat out, we’re building as much as we can,” said Rob Busby, construction manager for Landmark Homes.% V% ]- s1 u+ _6 P& A$ X- Q
* D' c4 b, f2 R% A3 o% z) QThe increased demand is due to strong job and population growth, according to Christina Butchart, senior analyst with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.
