Edmonton home builders say they are working non-stop to meet a demand they haven’t seen since the boom of 2005. z+ {1 }/ S9 {# Z" q1 t8 d: j
! h; p3 ^4 h" N+ N O) ] z7 JBuilders started construction on 468 new single detached homes last month, a 34 per cent increase from August 2013.7 _" r! U8 ^' {4 [6 W$ ]1 y+ `" Q( g

The increased demand is due to strong job and population growth, according to Christina Butchart, senior analyst with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.
