Edmonton home builders say they are working non-stop to meet a demand they haven’t seen since the boom of 2005.5 ~# y& c8 l8 C( D8 R1 A+ I

Builders started construction on 468 new single detached homes last month, a 34 per cent increase from August 2013.

The increased demand is due to strong job and population growth, according to Christina Butchart, senior analyst with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.# T5 [2 v3 E" E4 |) D4 A& w5 t) l
