! n: ~8 _8 H" T$ _. hBuilders started construction on 468 new single detached homes last month, a 34 per cent increase from August 2013.9 J& z7 V1 c E* C7 D2 x
, j2 a6 y7 t- J“Right now we're running flat out, we’re building as much as we can,” said Rob Busby, construction manager for Landmark Homes.6 ^/ e3 ~( {, e& Q7 B/ i' G Z

The increased demand is due to strong job and population growth, according to Christina Butchart, senior analyst with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.6 x% f! N1 I& e% t8 h

“If you look at the number of people who are moving into Edmonton, it’s record high levels so that’s contributing to that expanding demand,” she said.
