Builders started construction on 468 new single detached homes last month, a 34 per cent increase from August 2013.

# H, t3 F: s- g1 ?The increased demand is due to strong job and population growth, according to Christina Butchart, senior analyst with the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation.3 `/ P* h& [9 x
9 w3 _0 `5 z$ H7 p“If you look at the number of people who are moving into Edmonton, it’s record high levels so that’s contributing to that expanding demand,” she said.
